@TyaliSiya Unfortunately only a few universities have this system in place and the NRF should have the option too... I wonder if we have that option available? We should.

…the emails about being paid, I think it’s more productive to request an internal transfer of the funds. And I think many more academics (external examiners, panel members etc) should do this. But I’m gonna need universities to give actual guarantees that they process the funds.

This week alone I told two universities to transfer what would have been my honorarium to two media/comms students that need a portion of their tuition paid. In the last five or so years I’ve not been taking my honorarium because it’s a tax nightmare. But instead of ignoring…

A Chinese court has ruled it illegal to replace human workers with AI purely for the sake of cost-cutting. The court decided that companies hold a social responsibility to treat workers fairly and pay them what they're worth.

Coetzee declined because of Israel's Genocide in Gaza, apparently stating that it is impossible for any part of Israeli society — including the intellectual and artistic communities — to claim it does not share in the guilt for the atrocities in Gaza, ynetnews.com/culture/articl…

@BoerInExile @chaukegriff @paulyberk What public school did you attend? Because I smell lies... The public school I attended only allowed the first black learners after 1995 or 6 and it was with parental resistance. So name the magical public school in the 80s you attended.

@chaukegriff @paulyberk Most of the public schools were open to Balcks in the late 80s. They literally went to the public school I attended (in Pretoria)

Stupid by itself is bad enough, combined with this shitty grift is even worse. Separate Amenities Act only repealed in 1990, Group Areas Act and the Population Registration Act only repealed in 1991. You wrote a whole book with research and missed this? Are you kak at research?

By the 1980s, black South Africans could do just about anything in the country. Most racial segregation in places like cinemas, parks, and so on had already been removed. How do I know? Well, I investigated it when I was writing my book Lessons from Past Heroes. #economy #politics #markets

The fabricated photograph of Shoeib is part of the Israeli strategy. It relies on the fact that a correction never catches the lie. By the time it does, it no longer matters. The lie is seen by millions, while the correction is seen by thousands. dailymaverick.co.za/article/2026-0…
