Canada’s Hiring Paradox: No Jobs for Youth - No Workers for Employers? Irep Cakir asked PM Carney about Canada’s job market contradiction. Young people can’t find jobs -yet employers can’t find workers. Did the Prime Minister really answer the question? Will the “hiring paradox” -the gap between youth unemployment and labour shortages- continue to grow?

Do you believe that leaving the people -who came to Canada in good faith under Special Measures, have since integrated, and are contributing to the economy- without a forward-looking pathway is consistent with Canada’s humanitarian commitments, eagerness for strengthening the economy and international credibility? 💥REPORT: Immigration Canada is deporting scientists, and importing welfare bums and insurance agents. They're also giving low-skilled overseas talent PR status at entry, while highly-skilled labourers are still waiting and leaving the country.

In recent years, Canada has offered temporary refuge to a growing number of migrants seeking protection & caught in wars and humanitarian crises. "The process (of repatriation) is both painful and unproductive. It helps nobody.” thestar.com/news/canada/te…

Only a failed system ignores people’s voices. A system built solely for economic immigrants becomes a discriminatory, racialized structure designed for exploitation. No answers, no accountability, not even an apology only false hope. #ts2023 #rememberfebruary6 @MarkJCarney

What is the situation in Türkiye today? In Türkiye, 37,066 buildings collapsed, and more than 646,000 buildings were either destroyed or heavily damaged. Even with international support, recovery and reconstruction will take years. Hundreds of thousands of people, including children, are still living in tents and makeshift shelters with limited access to basic services. Many have lost their sources of income. We demand a fair process for those whose work permits are about to expire. 🔗 undp.org/turkiye-syria-#ts2023extend @MarkJCarney @LenaMetlegeDiab @nkeung @iremreports @CBCNews

Canada’s immigration system is rigged for the wealthy and credentialed — and ruthless to the workers who actually keep this country running. We are TS2023 earthquake survivors. We were invited here to work, survive, and rebuild our lives. Instead, we’re blocked from education, licensing, and experience recognition, then blamed for not “qualifying” to stay. This isn’t incompetence. It’s policy by design — failed system. Canada takes our labor in construction sites, roads, and energy projects — then discards us when it’s time to settle, study, or advance. this system Force out workers who didn’t arrive rich, create a labor crisis, hollow out the trades, and push Canada backward. This is not immigration policy. It’s a political failure — and it must be exposed. #ts2023extend @MarkJCarney @LenaMetlegeDiab @nkeung @iremreports @CBCNews #cdnpoli #markhamunionville #markham #canadianpolitics

On Monday, 6 February 2023, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Türkiye, centered in the city of Kahramanmaraş, near the Syrian border. Several hours later, a second 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit the same region. In this disaster of unprecedented scale and severity, more than 53,000 people lost their lives. It is estimated that the amount of debris generated in Türkiye alone reached approximately 100 million cubic meters. The recovery and reconstruction process will take many years to complete. Conditions in Türkiye have still not returned to normal. Making TS2023 work permits temporary means leaving us once again alone with the same fear and uncertainty. Please allow the people you invited through humanitarian assistance to rebuild their lives with dignity and stability. #ts2023extend @MarkJCarney @LenaMetlegeDiab @nkeung @CBCNews @iremreports #cdnpoli #markhamunionville #markham #canadianpolitics #ThankYouCena #SNME

The February 6, 2023 earthquakes in Türkiye are recorded as the deadliest earthquakes worldwide since the 2010 Haiti earthquake, which claimed over 300,000 lives. We know how Canada opened its doors to Haiti and provided protection and opportunity. Please do not forget us—the people you invited to rebuild our lives after the earthquake. Sending us back means returning many women, children, youth, elderly, and families to the same disaster and fear. 🔗 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Turk… #ts2023extend @MarkJCarney @LenaMetlegeDiab @nkeung @iremreports @CBCNews

Imagine working outside in sub-freezing temperatures, building the backbone of society — homes, roads, pipelines, oil rigs — just to be met with ignorance and cuts from the very government that invited you here to build a life. This is the reality for many young Turkish men who lost everything, came to Canada with hope, worked the hardest jobs no one else wanted — and are now left with thousands of dollars in debt and no future in sight. Failed by politicians here and back home. Used, ignored, and discarded. We didn’t come for handouts. We came to work, to rebuild, to contribute. And this is how we’re repaid. 💔🇨🇦🇹🇷 #TS2023 #cdnpoli #markhamunionville #markham #canadianpolitics #ThankYouCena, #SNME,

The situation in Türkiye has still not improved. More than 650,000 people are still living in container cities. Thousands of people still haven’t been able to rebuild their businesses or find jobs. Aftershocks continue, and those who experienced trauma are not ready to return to the same psychological state. More than 50,000 people lost their lives in this earthquake. 1.5 million people were affected. The estimated economic damage exceeded 100 billion dollars. A safe environment has still not been fully restored. @MarkJCarney @LenaMetlegeDiab @nkeung @SimaAcan @TheHillTimes @CBCNews @iremreports

One year after TS2023, families who rebuilt their lives in Canada still have no clarity. They work, study, contribute, and yet face uncertainty as the special measure nears expiry. Canada cannot afford to lose what these families have built. TS2023 needs an extension and a pathway. It’s time for an answer. hilltimes.com/story/2024/02/… via @thehilltimes #TS2023 #ExtendTS2023 #cdnpoli #cdnimm #Türkiye #markcarney @nkeung @MarkJCarney @LenaMetlegeDiab @UNHumanRights @CBCNews @SimaAcan @TurkFederation @TS2023OWP @TurkishVoiceCan @irepcg @iremreports

A year ago, The Hill Times reported a clear message from Turkish earthquake survivors in Canada: “Clear a path for immigration amid uncertainty.” That story captured the reality of TS2023 open work-permit holders, families who arrived under extraordinary circumstances, built their lives here, entered the Canadian workforce immediately, and helped fill labour shortages across the country. They came with nothing but hope, and in return, Canada offered a temporary solution, promising safety and a chance to rebuild. Twelve months have passed. Despite repeated requests, collective letters, petitions tabled in Parliament, and direct engagement with MPs, there is still no answer. No clear pathway. No extension plan. No certainty for families who started from zero and trusted Canada. During this year: TS2023 families joined workplaces in health care, food production, construction, logistics, IT, and education. Employers invested in them, trained them, and relied on them. Children entered schools. Settlement organizations supported their integration. Communities grew stronger because of their contribution. But today, every family is living with the same question the Hill Times highlighted one year ago: What happens when the special measure expires? TS2023 was not a tourist program. It was a humanitarian response to one of the largest disasters in recent history. Those who arrived are now part of our communities, our workplaces, and our future. Allowing their lives to fall into uncertainty again would undo the very purpose of the program. Canada has a history of turning emergency measures into long-term, principled solutions when integration, contribution, and humanitarian protection align. TS2023 meets all three criteria. We are respectfully calling on the Government of Canada, especially those who carried TS2023 into existence, to provide clarity: 🔹 Will TS2023 holders receive an extension? 🔹 Will a structured pathway be created for those already contributing to Canada? 🔹 Will families be protected from falling into status uncertainty again? There are solutions available. What’s missing is direction. TS2023 holders are not asking for special privileges; they are asking for a fair process, built on the same Canadian values that welcomed them a year ago. They have spent twelve months proving they belong here. The question is no longer “Why should this program continue?” The real question is: How can Canada afford to lose what these families built? It’s time for an answer. #TS2023 #ExtendTS2023 #cdnpoli #cdnimm #Türkiye #MarkCarney @MarkJCarney @LenaMetlegeDiab @UNHumanRights @CBCNews @SimaAcan @TurkFederation @TS2023OWP @TurkishVoiceCan @irepcg
