First genome-wide screen from our lab @NMatange on resistance-proofing. Loss of efflux and envelope genes made E. coli sensitive, but evolution found detours. Efflux inhibition seemed promising until resistance to the inhibitor evolved. Nature finds a way! doi.org/10.1371/journa…

In this study we look at how a gene regulatory mutation in MgrB that confers trimethoprim resistance to E. coli. Our study shows that gene regulatory networks are like dominoes. One mutational hit sets of pervasive gene deregulation. 2/n
