Leaving a flat in Bangalore… and losing most of the deposit 😳 Charu Gupta shares: I was living in a 3BHK flat in Bangalore with two roommates. When we moved in, we paid a ₹70,000 security deposit. After some time, the owner suddenly asked us to vacate because he wanted to sell the flat. We agreed and moved out peacefully. But the shock came later…Out of ₹70,000, he returned only ₹18,000 🤯 He deducted one month’s rent, saying the flat would need painting and repairs, and since no one would stay during that time, he would face a loss. But how is that the tenant’s responsibility? If he had informed us earlier, we could have helped find a new tenant. On top of that, he also deducted money for damages that were already there. We had informed him about those issues earlier, and at that time he told us to get them fixed ourselves. He owns around 10 flats in Bangalore… so what does he really gain by holding back a tenant’s deposit like this? Now I’m planning to send him a legal notice. If he doesn’t respond within 15 days, I may have to take the matter to court. He has even blocked me on WhatsApp, so there’s no way to talk and resolve this directly.

Was having a casual chat with the CTO of a big research lab yesterday, and he had just joined after taking a technical round ( I think it was a coding round ) for a research scientist position. I asked him what exactly he looks for in this technical round ( there must be more, I'm assuming ) And he said something on lines of, "Their understanding of different algorithms and Data structures." AI or no AI, having strong fundamentals is still a differentiator.

On the trending topic of professor giving hard times … I have had my fair share of difficulties with professors of all kinds. But the problem there is not with them, it is on us to clearly lay the terms before association and work. I have been very fortunate to have brilliant and passionate professors guide me on my journey, just by laying the terms well ahead of our association. It pays well, to be good at discussing hard things. End of day, if we are using their facilities, they are our partners and all IITs have very clear terms. They share the IP.

Two of my college friends just moved back to India from Germany. Between them, almost a decade in AI/ML. One worked in cancer research. Building ML pipelines for tumor classification. They came back to take care of their parents. Now Indian companies interviewing are asking them to write code on notepad. Notepad. In 2026. For people who are working on AI models that detect cancer. If anyone has openings in tech/AI/ML, their LinkedIn profiles below. Any lead would mean a lot.

As someone who's travelled on the 20607/8 Vande Bharat almost every month since the day it was inaugurated, it pains me to make this thread. But long story short, it looks like the train recently went through a periodic overhaul "maintenance". Why the quotes? Let me show you

PM Manmohan Singh ji did a great service to us by opening up about the the price increase and taggining at as nominal. And the bonds being issued are going to be burdened by the next gen. His hidden message is, if I cannot stop it I will atleast put it on record.
पाकीट तज्ञ@paakittadnya

The Gen Z would never have heard this. Manmohan Singh addressed the nation about Oil bonds and said that the debt of reduction of oil prices will be paid by future generation. Don't forget that UPA put you in debt even before you completed school.

Not wanting to pick on the OP here but it has to be said in general. Sab apna galti hai. We don't name and shame. We don't report. Name the babus, ministers, distributers. File complaints. X pe roke kuch nahi hota

In science, if you say I will do it, you are saying you will learn a hundred years of theory and out work a thousand PhD students and a hundred professors working day in and out on that particular topic across the globe. That is what India needs today. We need scientific ambition. We need to pull our science back to world class. Very soon.
