"You have ADHD, a dysgenic disease that is linked to dozens of awful behaviours and has to be corrected with an addictive drug." "There's nothing wrong with you, you just have a chemical imbalance that can be treated with medications." The framing effect is real.

@bronzeagemantis In the military, we painted our faces with black camo pens. Later, when washing your face, black paint residue stayed around the eyes, resembling warlord eyeliner… A powerful look…

@taobanker But it kinda is actually true. Maybe if you buy some niche premium top of the shelf overpriced medical grade omega 3 then there may be „some“ benefit to it, but otherwise it’s just rancid oil slop sold in pills. Here are the latest guidelines (European society of cardiology):

I feel like it's very bad if ray peat convinced people that omega 3 is bad unless that is actually true

@dannyroddy I’ve had a gastroscopy a few days ago, and i got a few sprays of lidocaine on the throat which I then swallowed and I think even that small amount has fixed my dyspepsia until today

"...Lidocaine not only improved gastrointestinal motility but also shortened length of hospital stay significantly... Lidocaine significantly accelerated return of bowel function... Anti-inflammatory activity modulating the surgery-induced stress response may be one potential mechanism." Q: So Lidocaine's benefits are far more than just anaesthetic? Ray Peat: "Yes, much more — similar to procaine, but without the risk of allergic reactions, since it prevents mast cell degranulation. It’s nerve-protective, antistress, antiinflammatory, antioxidant, antiarrhythmia, memory improving, anticancer." (2018) PMCID: PMC1933564

Steve jobs ate a mono-diet and did extended fasts regularly. Plato's Republic lists out an explicit sleep, diet, and training optimization protocol for the Guardian class. Picasso kept his hair and nail clippings in a jar and had borderline schizophrenic pre-work rituals. Shakespeare left his "second best bed" to his wife in his will (he liked his bed that much). Einstein non-negotiably slept 10+ hours a night and had a daily walking routine. These guys were not winging it. They had neurotic routines that would make the most obtuse optimizer look amateur. To think that they wouldn't take advantage of the tools at their disposal is smooth-brained.
Jay Alto@theJayAlto

steve jobs didn't drink athletic greens. plato didn’t take creatine. picasso didn’t wear a whoop. shakespeare didn’t own an eight sleep. einstein didn’t use an infrared sauna. they all did just fine.

Ah yes, fighting and dying in trench warfare is the same thing as opening a work related email for „your stupid brain ape“ Don’t know which side of twitter this guy is from, but this is certainly the gayest post I‘ve ever seen on this website
memetic_sisyphus@memeticsisyphus

Your stupid ape brain doesn’t differentiate between a predator hiding in the tall grass and a potential life ruining message from your boss in your inbox. It doesn’t matter if the predator was actually a stick or the email was a routine request, your limbic system sees danger!

@Menatetronone_4 In general, heavy machinery is probably the best to work with, whether you're operating it or doing other things. Some of my friends recently became aircraft mechanics after switching from working on cars. Just seeing pictures of the large turbines they work on brings me joy.

Irish genetics is kinda crazy. I know a couple where both the husband and wife have dark eyes and jet-black hair, but they have a full-blown blonde, blue-eyed boy and a set of red-haired, green-eyed daughter twins.

@BowTiedUM just thought if there are „hidden“ ritalin pharmacodynamic insights, as many nootropic gurus seem to hate it for some reason and prefer amphetamines, and the MoA seems to be not fully understood officially from what i know

Would have been cooler if they did give you straight cortisol Methylprednisone is stronger and can't be metabolized by 5ar, so it's always going to produced an excessively stressed state

The fact that most medicines are prescription only is not only a crime against humanity but also one of main factors that create a two-class society When I become health minister, the first thing I'll do is ban prescriptions so that society can heal itself and ascend
