Hi Daniel, thanks for sharing. Timely, as we're rethinking our cash and money movement UX. Is it fair to say your ideal UX is: 1) Clear surface to send money to others. 2) Single send-able cash balance (USD + USDC) 3) Perhaps even the ability to send instantly to wife's bank, rather than route via her CB account Any edits / anything else?

hey - i at first didn’t love it from RH, but i do think splitting some functionality into another app would be worth exploring i also agree with some other commentary that prediction and perps aren’t likely for your average joe user. how could those be toggle on or accessed differently? for context, i was trying to send my wife USDC so she could then withdraw it to USD via the instant withdrawal feature. again, the core primitives made coinbase the right tool here as i had some idle USDC in there earning yield, and my wife needed cash in her chase account and i was having issues with zelle. but when it came to just moving money over, it was clunky between the concept of USD and USDC, deposit vs withdrawals believe me, these are all things i have faced in building products and they are super tricky… but i think we have a case of the app tying to be too much to too many people…. vs UX cuts that could be for specific financial CTAs eg trade, move money, save, etc

man, coinbase really does have all the raw components required to create a financial superapp, but they can’t get out of their own way. the app is so confusing for normal people who just want to move some money around

Say whatever you want on @base and @coinbase But @brian_armstrong a CEO of a multi billion rev public company getting absolutely locked in and going full founder mode on X and engaging with every single critic is very bullish. 2026 will be the year of Base.

After 4.5 years working deep in the onchain space, I'm off to do something new. The crypto landscape now looks dramatically different from 2018 when I first joined the space. We have real consumer adoption, institutional and regulatory support, and businesses are now realizing the power of stablecoins. And it's still only Day 1. Sharing my full message below. Thanks to all of you who have DM'd me with feedback, thanks, and ideas. I won't be far 🫡

From my humble seat as a lowly PM: - Alignment on what we were doing. A single list of what the priorities are from c-suite. - Managers as ICs. Less emphasis on coordination, more on building. - Rituals that show, not tell. Demo code every week. Including VERY rough living code to @jack - Killing consensus in favor of speed with DRIs. - Direct escalation. Disagree and commit. Make a decision within 48 hours. - Unreasonableness on behalf of customers and experience. Intolerance of process that doesn’t add value. - Hunger. Ambition. And a huge chip on our shoulder.

Perfect illustration of the innovator vs. operator dynamic: - Jobs was the zero-to-one visionary who made Apple survive. - Cook was the one-to-N operator who made Apple thrive. Each was the perfect CEO for their era.
