@TomorrowsWar The evidence necessary to prove your point would be believing Israelites not applying the blood & being killed. It doesn't exist in Scripture. However, Scripture does abundantly teach we are saved by grace through faith, not works, which then results in a life of obedience.

The Protestant doctrine of Sola Fide refuted in one image. It wasn't enough for the Israelites to simply believe God would protect them. They had to physically apply the blood to the doorpost. Without the act of obedience that faith remained "dead"

@TomorrowsWar No. Scripture tells us we are saved by God's grace through faith, not works of righteousness. The thief put his faith in Christ and Christ saved him. His salvation wasn't extraordinary and unrepeatable. It is the ordinary means of salvation (which are extraordinary, of course!)

The thief on the cross was saved by perfect contrition and implicit desire for Baptism and the Church in a moment of extraordinary grace outside the ordinary means of salvation established by Christ. Sola Fide also collapses here too. The thief’s final act was not faith alone detached from all response, but an incredible act of repentance, hope, and submission to Christ in the only way left to him. He was not a lifelong Protestant refusing the sacraments, he was a dying man given a unique and unrepeatable grace.

@Nicholai_Korea Ah, ok. I thought we were talking about Christianity. Salvation is an event... a work of God, not a work of men. We work out the effects of that salvation, learning to walk in Christ. What you're talking about is earning salvation by works, every other religion, not Christianity.

@immurator They used salvation in all tenses in the scriptures. So really it isnt useful unless you habe something that can account. Salvation isnt an event it is a life of repentance and uniting ourselves to Christ. Aka theosis.

The problem with modern Christianity is they think everything centers around a testimony when then centers around a specific moment when you were "saved" which is just not how it works. Salvation is an ongoing process and thus needs to be treated with immense seriousness.

Comparing a promiscuous woman to a pedophile, rapist, or murderer is really dumb & major category error. One is a violent act against an innocent party’s will, who cannot defend themselves. The other is a sexually immoral act with willing participants. Per scripture, one is a capital offense, and the other is not.
