Two charts tell the story. The first shows Mexico steadily overtaking China in U.S. trade value, with the gap widening sharply after 2020. The second breaks down how that trade moves: trucks dominate Mexican exports, while imports are split across truck, maritime, air, and rail. That mix is exactly why maritime-only data leaves so much on the table. In our recent webinar, Carolyn James, Director of Strategic Sales at ImportGenius, walks through how Mexico All Modes closes that gap, from faster supplier validation to catching competitor activity that never shows up in ocean shipping records. The full recording is available now: link in the replies.

China granted zero-tariff access to 53 African nations. If you source from, sell to, or compete in African markets, what does that do to your supply chain math? Cameroon is one to watch. As CEMAC's economic gateway, it connects Central and West Africa to global markets through the Port of Douala and Kribi deep-water port, with major exports in wood, coffee, petroleum, cocoa, and aluminum. Zero tariffs into China could reshape sourcing patterns, shift competitive dynamics, and redirect trade flows across the region. Learn more about Cameroon's trade data. Link in the replies.

If your competitors are sourcing through the Port of Laredo, Texas, would you know? Mexico has overtaken China as America’s top trading partner, and ImportGenius’ Mexico all-modes data tracks road, rail, air, and maritime trade. Read the latest Manifest to find out how to discover the supplier shifts and market signals that ocean data misses. Link in the replies.

Sierra Leone has declared a national emergency over synthetic opioid abuse. A major driver: more than 320 million tapentadol pills exported from India to West Africa in three years, with export value jumping from $27 million to nearly $130 million. Most of the destination countries don't even approve the drug. Investigators used ImportGenius trade records to confirm that Sierra Leone and Ghana accounted for over 80% of the total shipment value, exposing a regulatory gap between Indian export controls and West African enforcement. Vehicle imports from Mexico just plunged 34% in a single quarter. But the bigger story may be China’s growing automotive footprint in North America. This week’s Manifest breaks down the latest import data, the automakers losing ground, and what ImportGenius data uncovered about Chinese EVs in the United States. $17,000 vs. $50,000. That's the gap between a Chinese EV and the average new American car. U.S. manufacturers left the budget segment years ago, and Chinese automakers are ready to fill it. Sky-high tariffs and proposed legislation aim to keep them out. But ImportGenius trade data already shows Zeekr prototypes arriving in the U.S. through Faraday Future for compliance testing. The regulatory wall is high. The economic incentive to clear it is higher. Link in the replies

If you're relying on maritime-only data for Mexico, you're working with incomplete information: missing companies, delayed signals, and limited product detail. We built something better. Mexico All Modes brings land, air, and sea shipments into one dataset — with earlier signals, real product descriptions, 49 shipment fields, and the ability to filter by mode of transit so you can zero in on exactly the shipments that matter. Join Carolyn James, Director of Account Management at ImportGenius, for a live demo where she'll walk through real sourcing and competitor tracking workflows, and show you what maritime data has been missing. No-deforestation pledges. Green credit. Carbon-neutral certification. Behind the claims, AFP and The Gecko Project found tens of thousands of hectares of Indonesian rainforest cleared for pulp plantations supplying Asia Symbol. ImportGenius trade records helped trace the shipments from Central Kalimantan to the company's facilities in China. On the ground, communities report flooding, crop loss, and disappearing wildlife. The daughter of Sri Lankan immigrants, she got the hang of it early. She has always sought out new horizons, whether it’s a six-month internship in Russia or a backpacking adventure across Asia. She’s a quick study who knows how to make the most of scarce resources, and she always lands on her feet. Those personal traits have blossomed into career strengths. Jannine has bootstrapped marketing programs for multiple organizations: developing marketing functions from scratch, tying brand directly to revenue, and building structure amid ambiguity. At ImportGenius, she’s found her ideal marketing challenge. “Trade data has proven its worth, and its bottom-line value, in multiple business sectors,” she says. “When a company already has that kind of product-market fit, marketing can truly elevate the business,” Jannine says. As Chief Marketing Officer, Jannine is building infrastructure, compressing timelines, and creating systems that allow small teams to perform like large ones. And she’s helping ImportGenius clients do the same, by making complex trade intelligence accessible and understandable to any business. Above all, she’s fostering a high-performance culture through clear priorities, direct communication, and relationships that matter. For Jannine, culture is performance infrastructure.
