Ryan Daigler - Exposing Narcissistic Abuse 🚩🚩@Ryan_Daigler
A smear campaign is an attack on a person’s social identity and reality. It functions as a form of reputational aggression designed to damage how others perceive the target. The harm is real and intentional. This is a predatory act of violence.
Mechanics typically involve:
1. NARRATIVE CREATION – A simplified, emotionally charged story about the target.
2. REPETITION– Constant retelling increases perceived legitimacy (“illusory truth effect”).
3. MORAL FRAMING – The target is cast as dangerous, unstable, unethical, etc.
4. PREEMPTIVE DISCREDITING – Any defense by the target is framed as proof of guilt.
5. PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY – Statements are phrased as “concern,” “questions,” or “opinions.”
Why it qualifies as a form of violence:
• TARGETED HARM – The intent is to injure credibility, relationships, status, or livelihood.
• ASYMMETRICAL ATTACK – The target often doesn’t know it’s happening or cannot easily defend against it.
• REALITY DISTORTION – False or misleading narratives are introduced to replace the target’s actual behavior or character.
• SOCIAL WEAPONIZATION – Third parties are recruited as unwitting participants.
• PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE – Isolation, self-doubt, stress, anxiety, and reputational loss often result but are always the intent.
