@heathwadds @WasatchSentinel I posted this on this thread as well but here’s a clarification from IFAB from 2024, they probably should revise it to include this but they haven’t clarified it properly aside from this. IFAB has its own issues they need to address tbf.

@inactive1871 @WasatchSentinel I'll acknowledge I was being sarcastic. But in all seriousness, I don't think the rules make this distinction (even if the refs might do it in practice). Here's from IFAB (footballrules.com/offences-sanct…):

I have some news: this is not how playing advantage works.
Boring Ass Bitch@inactive1871
@WasatchSentinel You guys scored, that’s the advantage. It downgrades. If you don’t score there yes after the play finishes there’s a yellow. But you scored. Out of everything to complain about this game this is just textbook advantage.
English

@WasatchSentinel Well like I said this falls under being subjective. To me ( and I’m assuming Rivas) this could be a tactical foul of which it doesn’t actually stop the attack as it leads to a goal, but for you it could be UB-Reckless. I could support either decision.
English

@inactive1871 Got it. So yeah, in this case, I think the jersey pull and rip was pretty damn excessive on its on and worthy of a yellow card. But fair enough!
English

@inactive1871 Please show me where IFAB says that if a player commits a tactical foul to stop a promising attack (in this case, grabbing and ripping a players’ jersey), that the caution is no longer given if a goal is scored.
English

@WasatchSentinel Not according to IFAB, it has to be reckless in nature. If it’s purely tactical, which is subjective and in the opinion of the referee in this case, then no caution after the goal. Refereeing is not quite so black and white in the case of being subjective on what’s tactical or no
English

@inactive1871 Attempting to stop a promising attack with an unsportsmanlike foul is a yellow regardless of advantage being played and regardless of a goal being scored.
English

@heathwadds @WasatchSentinel Not quite what I meant in this particular case. It depends on the nature of the foul. Violent conduct has no advantage neither does serious foul play. A tactical foul is not held in the same regard as a reckless foul if the goal is scored from the advantage.
English

@WasatchSentinel "Sure, I punched the guy in the kidneys on a breakaway, but then he scored. How can you give me a red card now?"
English

Insane from Hezarkhani. How the hell isn’t this a retroactive yellow on Glesnes though? Look at Aiden’s jersey lol
Major League Soccer@MLS
Let them cook 😱 Aiden Hezarkhani finds Zavier Gozo for the Salt Lake equalizer just before half!
