LGA is STILL closed following the tragic crash last night. I was supposed to fly from MIA-LGA at 11am and now I’m rerouted to Georgia, no guidance on when LGA will open. I have a comedy show at 7pm tonight to fundraise for victims of terror in Iran… WHO HAS A PJ LEAVING MIAMI?!

🇺🇸Sergeant Tyler Simmons, 28, of Ohio, is one of six crew members killed in the crash of a U.S. KC-135 tanker plane over Iraq. Simmons served as part of the U.S. Air Force's aerial refueling team on an operational mission in the Middle East, a mission that allows fighter jets to continue operating in the air for hours and protect the American homeland and the United States' allies, including Israel. The tanker planes are a central part of military operations in the region and allow the Air Force to continue operating and support security missions aimed at protecting the countries that work together against threats and terrorism. During the operation, a serious crash occurred on the plane, there were six crew members on board, and none of them survived. A young soldier who went on a mission to protect his country and the State of Israel and did not return from it. May his memory be blessed.💔

King Solomon died yesterday at two and a half months old. We loved him really well, and we don't have any regrets. We got nine days at home with him after 61 days in the NICU. Nine will never feel like enough, but we must accept what is given to us––we were never in control. Let's take stock of all God's mercies, how He worked through people: My OB, who heard my conviction about carrying Sol to term even with his disabilities, and supported it fully, with empathy and respect; the nurses in the Lenox Hill NICU, where he spent the majority of his time, who loved him so tenderly, like he was their own; his physical therapist, who saw extreme hope for him despite his disabilities, and tried to make it so; my mom, who put her own life on hold to come live in New York with us for the whole winter, to watch Zev and keep our household running; Zev, who wanted to wear matching pajamas with his brother each night he was home (and some of the nights Sol was in the NICU), who was eager to come to the hospital with us to play in the lobby even though he wasn't often allowed in the NICU, who chose not to be afraid of hospitals or tubes but to touch and kiss and snuggle his brother whenever he was able; @nwilliams030 and @rSanti97, who camped out at the hospital during Sol's final days so we would never feel alone, who watched Zev whenever our family had to dip back down to Texas; the people who covered us in prayer all over the country. Perhaps most of all, I'm grateful for my husband: He wasn't Catholic or pro-life when we met, but life experience has brought him to these beliefs. They ground us now; his faith is steadfast. He didn't leave Sol's side during those final, hardest days. He doesn't falter. Something tragic happened to our family, but we won't become permanently sad or dark; we really believe in God's promises. We're called to hope, no matter what, and the best we can do is serve our children with everything we've got. That's what we did, and in the process we got to glimpse the goodness of the Lord over and over again.

After 61 days in the NICU, our Solomon was finally released last week to come start life at home. Thank you for all of your prayers; it was the darkest, scariest, worst two months of my life. But God showed his grace to us in so many ways, and many people banded together to allow me to spend every single day with him in the NICU. We are so grateful to the nurses who loved him like their own; to his physical therapist who is helping him overcome & adapt to his disabilities; to the doctors who performed his surgery; to our priest who baptized him in the hospital; to the friends and family who packed lunches for us, and watched our toddler, and did our laundry, who prayed with and for us and still do. I am grateful in particular for my husband and my mom, who showed me Christlike grace throughout, and for our 3-year-old, who didn't let his joy become dampened by all this fear and sorrow—an example from which we could all stand to learn. "I remain confident of this," Psalm 27 reminds us. "I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living." The Lord's goodness has been shown to us every day of these 61. People sometimes denigrate Christians as just those seeking comfort, needing a story to tell themselves. But yes! We are comforted by the Lord. He shows up for us in all kinds of ways, when we're looking—and when we're not. And He looks after the scared and grieving mother, the sick and vulnerable child, the family in need. He did for us, many times over. And many of you did, too, through prayer and acts of kindness. Thank you.

Ambassador Mike Huckabee@GovMikeHuckabee·
This is a long post but a reflection of life during the first week of the war from my seat on the front row right in the bullseye. It's 7:30am in Jerusalem. It's Shabbat. Quiet except for the missile alert siren at 5am this morning. Been exactly a week since war with Iran began. @janethuckabee & I & our 2 little dogs have been living in the Command Center, sleeping on cots to be able to deal with the moment by moment situation. Janet and the dogs are adjusting but they don't like the painfully loud sirens warning of incoming missiles, rockets & drones. It's a 24 hr a day schedule. When sirens aren't forcing everyone to shelter to dodge incoming ballistic missiles, the phone rings day and through the night w/ updates on everything from military activities to managing the embassy duties while our team is sheltering in place and working from home. Some in our mission, especially those with small children have evacuated on "authorized departure" which allows gov't staff to return to the US during a war or crisis. We are working around the clock to help evacuate American citizens trying to get back home. In the first days of the war, it was both difficult & dangerous to move people with all airspace closed & overland routes to Egypt or Jordan more risky than "sheltering in place." Totally fake news stories said "nothing was being done" to help Americans. Total lie. In the early hours and first days of war, the safest decision & what we urged our own Embassy personnel to do was stay close to shelter. Slowly, as the "battle rhythm" developed, we started physical evacuation first via buses to Egypt. There has been constant coordination with State Dept in DC to evacuate Americans SAFELY & promptly. 2 days ago, very limited flights started coming IN to Israel to bring Israelis home. We worked with El Al Airlines, the Israeli gov't & w/ State Dept Task Force in DC to get as many people on outbound planes as possible on the limited number of flights. It has been a 24 hr a day operation. Seeing utterly false news stories that US wasn't "doing anything" was a shock to embassy staff who have been busting their backsides, functioning with little or no sleep & themselves having to rush to bomb shelters repeatedly during the day and night & only having 90 seconds to take cover. We have now successfully evacuated thousands of people using every means possible, but focusing on helping people get home SAFELY. I'm proud of our team here. If you are an American citizen & taxpayer, you should be as well. I was amused to read comments online that I had returned to the US. Hardly. The Ambassador is the last one to leave. It's how it works. First duty is to America citizens. They are our real bosses. All of us here at the mission work for them. We know that & we work with that in mind. My other duty is to care for our team here. To insure the well-being of their families & to encourage our staff to take care of their physical and mental health as ballastic missiles the size of 18 wheel trucks come hurling toward us. I tried to get my wife to evacuate, but not surprisingly she would have none of it. She has weathered it with me even though there is no paycheck for her to sleep on a cot & endure days of making meals from PBJ sandwiches & things we had in the freezer at the residence we brought with us. No complaints though. It's a privilege to serve our country and its people & we are proud to serve @POTUS who courageous decision to stop the Iranian Regime's determined 47 year campaign to kill Americans & build a nuclear weapon to attack the US is something that should have happened long before. This war probably seems so far from those of you who live 6000 miles or more away from it, but rest assured the President wants to keep it that far away & end the threat completely. Had the fanatical religious zealots obtained a nuclear warhead and finalized long-range ballistic capability (and they were getting close to both) they would have used it on America. This is not a "war for Israel" as some of the very uninformed media voices and podcasters crow about. They are "often wrong, but never in doubt." I'm amazed at how lacking in facts some of them are but filled with an arrogant confidence that what they say is true. But they are far removed from the eyewitness intel & the front row seat I have. While they enjoy hefty paychecks from the "clicks" by being provocative, just know that halfway around the globe you have dedicated men & women who work for you for paychecks far less than they should be. They are on duty in war conditions & will continue at the task of serving Americans caught in the middle of a war. God Bless America, our courageous men & women in our military, & God Bless the men & women of YOUR Embassy in Israel!

My father has cancer. Stage four. The VA said maybe four months. He served three tours in Vietnam and came home to people spitting on him, calling him baby killer, telling him his service meant nothing. He never talked about the war. Never wore his medals. Never went to reunions. Just carried fifty-two years of shame for doing what his country asked him to do. Last month hospice started coming to the house and I realized I had no idea how to honor him, how to tell him his life mattered when he'd spent half a century believing it didn't. So I posted in a quilting group asking if anyone made military quilts, and a woman responded immediately. She'd found me through a shop where she runs a business making Quilts of Valor for dying veterans. She said “I'll start tonight.” She finished it in three weeks, worked around the clock because Dad's time is short. Every star is hand-stitched. Every stripe is perfectly aligned. She shipped it express and included a letter thanking him for his service, telling him that her father died alone believing nobody cared that he'd served. She said “Let your dad know the country was wrong. His service mattered. He matters.” We wrapped him in it yesterday. This photo is him seeing it for the first time. He cried for twenty minutes, kept touching the stars, kept saying “Someone made this for me?” I've started coordinating with other quilters now, connecting dying veterans with makers who can get quilts finished in time. Racing against cancer, against time, against fifty years of men dying before anyone told them thank you. Dad has maybe six weeks now. But he'll leave wrapped in stars. ⭐🇺🇸 By Angela mcnutt
