It’s a mess - IIRC they set up a new MultiPeerConnectivity (wifi-direct or bluetooth under the hood) session _for each file_ that is transferred. So it’s joining and dropping a hotspot for every little file. They also do things like re-process the whole manifest when receiving each file.

how does signal take one hour to transfer like 4gib across local wifi for transfering to new phone

i was looking through ios device logs when debugging this 1pw thing and it’s full of like random permission denied messages for tons of random apps i have never even opened once. like the ebay app keeps hitting sandbox errors over and over. is this normal is ios just like this

@inerati @euanjs the airpods work fine, if you download an appstore like F-Droid and then what i use is "CAPod FOSS" it lets you see the battery life and such. i dont have access to all the other stuff yet but for what i use them for its good enough, got noise cancelling etc

@HSVSphere every 3p app i used on android was noticeably dogshit in comparison ~5yrs ago i am very skeptical that this has changed

@inerati GrapheneOS is far more usable than the latest iOS version, and the apps are just better if you don't download google play slop. I had to manually enter SMTP mail addresses to Apple's mail app while Thunderbird infers those automatically for example.

also there are so many random warning logs from things that look important to the os. like missing configs for like a thermal management daemon.
