@artwithinpod I think I’m just astonished with how similar it looks to the movies. If you’re going to redo what’s already been done, add some unique flavor to it. There were moments in this trailer where, gun to head, I would have sworn were from the movie. Especially the Dursley house.

against all odds, I was fully unprepared for just how off-putting and uncomfortable this would be to watch. something about seeing such a classically-crafted, iconic film series translated into the aesthetics of a modern HBO prestige streamer show just feels uncanny valley wrong.

This trailer makes me want to cry but for all of the wrong reasons and maybe I’m just overreacting but as a massive Harry Potter fan this feels so wrong to me 😓😭 It feels like they are trying to replace the original cast and films which is basically what J.K. Rowling wanted….. The show doesn’t look bad by any means, but what is the point when the look and feel created in the films with the set design, costuming, locations used etc. are just being replicated for the show with such little variance? The Harry Potter films have such an iconic aesthetic and I actually hate the fact it’s being rebooted into a show. Why can’t we just respect the art that was already created? You want more of the story?! READ THE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s horrible that such a beautiful story was created by a woman that turned out to be so hateful that the purpose of this show is because she is now trying to rewrite history after staining her legacy.
