Working in cyber security some days:

I'm doing some research, and could do with some help. I'm looking for sole traders and small business owners who'd be willing to talk to me about security - what actually matters to them, incidents that have affected them (anonymity is an option here), and similar. I've found a lot of guidance out there is little more than trimmed down advice for large enterprises, which really doesn't translate well to <50 person companies. If you are, or know, a sole trader or small business owner who'd be up for a 30 minute online chat about your business and what matters to you in terms of security then I'd really appreciate your time. I don't have much in the way of budget for this research, but I will happily answer any questions I can help with as part of it. I will be looking to record the sessions for my own use, and any recordings will be destroyed after I've reviewed them and taken effective notes. I'm also just generally pleasant to chat to and a good listener, so there's that. Just drop me a DM if you're up for it.

One thing I won’t be doing is messaging the account I’ve just been spammed nearly 30 times in a row within a few minutes. I hate people who market like this.

Hi business, this account with your business has been hacked and the security questions have been changed and the number allocated to the account isn’t one ever owned by the account holder… Take a guess how that conversation went. No emails about the changes or login either👍🏼

Stage 8 of the interview process is a virtual interview where you answer pre recorded questions under a 2 minute time limit…. What even is the job market right now? 9 stages before speaking to an actual person (and that’s an assumption), that is actually crazy. No.

@malwareowl I’ve withdrawn my application. I already understand applicants perceived value.

@infosecabi It’s totally ridiculous and not very inclusive for neurodiverse people.
