more often than not, inventing side stories for side characters ends up sacrificing some of the main characters plotlines tho:(( but whatevs still be tuning in for the chaos of it all

@ingstresting the problem here is that we’ll get the remaining episodes in december If the episodes were released weekly or there was only a one month break, no one would actually complain. Its understandable to save the most important storyline for the end of the season.

@artenthologie agree that book!taggie is a bygone depiction, but personally don’t feel that as much in the show. they made steps in the right direction in s1, and both bella/reviews have said taggie has far more agency and definition beyond that relationship in s2. we’ll have to see on friday!

@ingstresting you’re not wrong about rupert sleeping with cameron being in character but, because of what i mentioned regarding taggie’s portrayal, that create a dynamic i don’t like at all.

plus wanting a character notorious for his appetite to suddenly be celibate is crazy work. a lot of rupert's development will come from that misalignment of physical impulse v. emotional intent. it doesn't detract from his love for taggie, rather intensifies it albeit unhealthily

@artenthologie ...taggie stan too here. the books are riddled with 80s tropes, i get you, but so far i think the show is self-aware re: this and done a fair job at interrogating them. my opinion above was just that i struggle to agree with anything alluding to rupert being ooc with cameron.

@ingstresting and all this is done at the author’s request who straight up insisted that taggie had to remain pure. there is a very unsubtle gender assymetry in the way they are written and taggie stans are allowed to have a problem with this actually.

@ingstresting People forget bc they didnt read the book that Rupert was raised by nannies and boarding school. His parents are on their like 5th marriages and constantly have infidelity. So he is just modeling the behavior that was taught to him. He has no concept of healthy relationships.
