@DorsetMuseum Mary and her sister Kate birth trained to teach at College in Salisbury. Mary had little opportunity to paint whilst there as her days were taken up with lectures,Cathedral services and industrial work which meant doing arduous household chores.

Thomas Hardy's sisters trained to teach at Salisbury Training College, which is now @SalisburyMuseum It was a tough regime and they were often unhappy.Thomas used their experiences when writing Jude the Obscure.

Thinking of beautiful Channel Islands today 75 years after the liberation from the Occupation.

A year ago'We Will Teach' was published, telling stories of Channel Island women who trained at Salisbury Training College(now @SalisburyMuseum). We should never forget the hardships suffered by Channel Islanders under five long years of Nazi occupation.

Seventy five years ago Salisbury Training College students (now @SalisburyMuseum) decorated King's House ready for VE Day celebrations.

Peace on Salisbury Plain today. We remember all those soldiers who trained here in the years leading up to May 1945 and we give thanks for them.

There were many strong women at Salisbury Teacher Training College. They worked hard but also enjoyed themselves, as on this trip to Stonehenge in 1922.

March 2nd was a special day for hundreds of former Salisbury Training College( later known as The College of Sarum St Michael)students-they were awarded honorary degrees by the University of Winchester. Salisbury Cathedral was packed. What a day to remember!
