Imagine being part of NBA history, captured in the crowd of a Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, or VC rookie card. That's the "Top Shot Zone": the intersection of fandom and collectibles. Good luck to all collectors hoping to be part of history. #NBATopShotThis

TSHOT up ~50% overnight as @nbatopshot launches Road to the Ring - burn Moments, earn points, climb tiers. Built for this. Road to the Ring rewards burning Moments - TSHOT gives you instant access to floor Moments to burn, no marketplace hunting required. Oh, and we also took a Top 10 finish at the @pl_genesis Hackathon this week. The protocol works. vaultopolis.com

@AustinKent Appreciate a peek behind the curtain. Your choice (albeit more complicated) sounds thoughtful and would have been a massive improvement. One thing missing from the story is whether the team planned for failure (i.e., Jalen missing his dunks or them being underwhelming).

It didn't work out, suffice it to say -- too many moving parts and differing perspectives -- but at least Amazon has found a different use case for the highlight chain. I just wish more people could have seen our more ambitious ideas brought to life back in 2022.

🧵 Alright, quick story time. There isn't one person or group to fault for the Jalen Green dunk contest idea going south but it was almost instantly the most disappointing thing I've ever been a part of.
Steve 🏀@intangible_eth

It takes a first follower to validate a crazy idea. @NBATopShot putting a video necklace on Jalen Green in the dunk contest felt cringe at the time. Now that @PrimeVideo is copying the hardware, Top Shot's original idea looks sane. They weren't wrong, just early.

Close your eyes and repeat slowly, "There's no place like the Soho house of the NBA. There's no place like the Soho house of the NBA. There's no place like the Soho house of the NBA", and you too will see what I see. This is chess, not checkers, and a big win for NBA Top Shot.
Steve 🏀@intangible_eth

Here is why the video necklace failed in 2022 but works now. Jalen Green wore the chain and lost the dunk contest, making the tech a distraction. @NBAonPrime rewards achievement after the fact, turning it into a trophy. @NBATopShot had the right concept but the wrong sequence.

@pdhooms @VinceCarterLast @NBAonPrime @NBATopShot Amazon's version is more polished, but context is important. Dapper's version was an initial proof of concept. Their version likely required more effort because it was the first, while Amazon had the luxury of four years to iterate on that idea.

@PackripEwing @NBAonPrime @NBATopShot For sure. 2022 still could have worked, but only if Jalen put the necklace on after he hypothetically won. If he lost, I would have never deployed the necklace. It was a strategic mistake.

@intangible_eth @NBAonPrime @NBATopShot so you’re right in theory Prime has the benefit of owning the whole marketing, broadcast, and distribution, so they can work with any athlete at Top Shot we had to pick an athlete in advance, sign a NIL deal with them, and hope we picked the guy who would win the dunk contest

Absolutely gutted to lose this auction on @NBATopShot for the Ace Bailey. I was high bidder until the last minutes, so I threw every single rare I had at it, but rather than outbidding “Big Dadda Bear” at $395, my $509 bid was outbid by Self_Assured_sea_horse, so I could have theoretically won auction and still burned less moments. I wonder, do I know this person, and did I upset you?

@CardAficionado I honestly had no idea how deep parallels go in cardboard. Suddenly parallels on Top Shot seem scarce. 🤯

@devrelius Interesting, is the encrypted data quantum resistant?

CDR (confidential data rails) is an entirely new, general purpose onchain primitive for private data - invented by Story. today it's now live on testnet. tldr: you can now manage sensitive data onchain between parties who don't trust each other (different to ZK, read on) CDR vs ZK: ZK proves data exists, without revealing data, CDR focuses on controlling access to the data itself, ie who can use it and when. So they are perfectly complementary. how it works: under the hood, validators run specialized hardware (TEE), where they each hold pieces of a secret key, ensuring data stays encrypted and only unlocks when the right conditions are met. what CDR unlocks: > confidential AI inference without exposing models or queries > encrypted data marketplaces with programmable access > multi-party collaboration over sensitive datasets (think fraud detection, medical data, order books) this is a key piece of infra to let AI run on precious, confidential information. and CDR is live on testnet now! incredibly proud of the team that made this real. come build on it.
Story@StoryProtocol

The next wave of AI depends on data that can’t be exposed. Now with Confidential Data Rails (CDR), that constraint disappears. ▸ Data stays encrypted ▸ Access is defined upfront ▸ Secure pre-conditions held for decryption Live now on testnet.

Axios (used by millions) was recently hit by a supply chain attack. While some blame npm bloat, the real story is the sophisticated social engineering (fake Slack/Teams) used to trick a dev into running a binary. The trust goalposts have moved. We need better frameworks to verify.

@kurtwarnerlover @TSDRLB @natsturner Damn, now I can't tell which is the original and which is the copy. Better pay $200 and send em both to PSA so we can finally settle this.

I just bought a $5 LeBron Moment on NBA Top Shot but suspect it might be counterfeit. The pixels look off compared to a verified authentic one I already own. To be sure, I paid PSA $100 to grade the metadata; I should hear back in 6-7 months. Wish me luck. 🙏

@TSDRLB @natsturner For sure, though I'm not too happy with my last metadata grade from them. I might crack the slab open and resubmit. I'm sure PSA will be happy to take another $100, I'll hear back from them on my new grade in 6-7 months.

@intangible_eth @CardAficionado lol it's okay Steve. You don't have to worry. My meme folder and whatever beliefs that you imagine I have about NFTs/tokenization isn't going to hurt you or your TS account.
