Social media can often seem like a highlights reel. Papers accepted. Grants received. Offered tenure. Prizes and awards. This can make you feel inadequate when you compare your struggles with all these achievements. But remember these are just the highlights. @lizandmollie

@LTHEchat @ARLT_SIG A3. To ensure that the time colleagues spend doing anti racism work is recognised as work and not a passion project. For all stakeholders to show how they contribute to the institution’s anti racist strategy as part of their annual review. #LTHEchat

@LTHEchat A1. I see my role as a widening participation educator. I use different titles - SL, Course Leader, Module Leader. I am a microbiologist but I spend more time teaching numeracy and scientific literacy skills. #LTHE

Madam PresIdent: It is All About Nigeria
Good morning NAFDAC @NafdacAgency. In my humble opinion, you guys are not incompetent or even intransigent in your role as registrar and regulator of products. Of course you have bad eggs in your rank and file, but that is a Nigerian ailment. My honest view is that you are just overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of terrible and murderous Nigerians doing everything fake. I mean, imagine 36 states coverage of fake manufacturing centres. It is scary. But you cannot give up. We have a problem on our hands which is so grave, that it impacts health care. People consume dangerous fake products and drugs, many develop liver and kidney problems and need transplant which is not readily available (mind you, Nigeria does not even have an organ donor programme) and many die as a result. So we are talking about existential threats here. How do we stem this entrenched fake product business in the short term while thinking long-term actions? NAFDAC should consider: (a) Immediate automation of the system of checking product license and registrations online so that consumers can check NAFDAC numbers and report products. (b) Require all large supermarkets to check all NAFDAC products before purchase and stocking. Hitherto, you have only required them not to stock products that do not have NAFDAC number, now put strict liability on them to bear punishment if they do not check on the product authenticity. (b) Place spies in all markets where wholesales are undertaken and shut down any market where fake products are sold. I know you have informants, but this is not enough. You need undercover agents employed in some of the shops. (c) Reward whistleblowing. (d) Lobby the @nassnigeria to amend the laws and penalty for producing and selling fake products and drugs. I am sure my X people can come up with more suggestions on how to stop this madness of Nigerians killing Nigerians for money. Dear Nigerians, we are all in this together. We need to all be part of the reform agenda of our dear country
