Last week, FM @chia_lung hosted an @ipacglobal delegation. He thanked the organisation for its support in resisting authoritarianism and championing Taiwan's freedom to engage internationally, as well as hosting VP @bikhim to speak at the European Parliament last year.

We came to see the Taiwan Strait with our own eyes, a fact-finding visit in Taiwanese waters, and the first international parliamentarians ever to sail into the Taiwan Strait. We met President Lai, Vice President Hsiao, the NSC Secretary-General, the Foreign Minister and his deputy, and many others. The message we heard was consistent: Taiwan is not asking anyone to fight its battles. It is asking partners to help it deter one. We all have a duty to call out the attacks on our societies, and to have the courage to deter. Showing up matters. Democracies don’t defend themselves by statement alone - we do it by standing, visibly, with our partners. History has a voice. Right now it is whispering its warning to us. We would do well to listen.
