Yes I have been tracking the crazy number of pitcher errors all season 😂
Vanderbilt absolutely practices PFPs, so I wonder if this is a confidence issue. A pitcher feels uncomfortable/sped up on the mound, leading to more errors + fewer strikes

@aria_gerson Speaking of strange stats, have you noticed that our pitching staff committed almost 40% of total team errors this year (17/44)? Also a very large # of WPs and HBPs. Does that need more attention in offseason, or is it just a function of lots of freshman innings?

@aria_gerson I think the season is over so to me I think you do whatever you think you need to do to prepare for next year.

The question you have to ask yourself is: Are you OK with your season ending in Hoover, and Tyler Baird, who has been one of your most reliable arms, doesn't throw one single pitch?
If you're not, then you can't use him in a way that would take him out until you've already...

I think a good amount of the pitching issues this year stem from guys being used in the wrong roles due to a combination of injuries and an utter lack of starting pitching depth

@twentysidesmatt He’s completely fumbled this season. Brown has to go. Complete overhaul is needed. They are embarrassing right now from a coaching standpoint. Take out your ace when he’s doing fine but let a crappy reliever stay in when he’s struggling is mind boggling

It’s not an exaggeration to say the season may hang in the balance right now. Vanderbilt cannot let this game get blown open and have to play catch up.

It feels like Brian Kelly is actually reckoning with his legacy…including being a villain to Notre Dame.
But fixing that would take authentic ownership & humility we’ve never seen from him.
The relationship may beyond full repair…but it could improve.
