AI is here to stay, and most of us are still trying to figure out what to do with it. We wonder: Should Christians use AI, and if so, how?
I’ve spent the last while experimenting with tools like Claude and Perplexity, not with the intention of having them replace me, but having them assist me. Where has it helped? Summarizing long videos and articles, searching vast personal archives of quotes and articles, proofreading, and even analyzing huge sets of data, like a collection of 7,000 Puritan works or the complete sermons of Charles Spurgeon.
It has also been useful for tedious or repetitive work: organizing receipts, wrangling spreadsheets, generating topical indexes, and helping a non-coder like me build simple but helpful apps and tools.
Yet I have some significant concerns: AI flatters us, it sometimes “hallucinates” and fabricates information, and it invites us to give vast amounts of personal data to companies we barely know and have little reason to trust.
AI is still in its infancy, but it is not going away. As Christians, it may be wise for us to learn how it works, where it helps, where it harms, and how to ensure it remains a servant rather than a master. I’ve tried to outline some of that here: challies.com/articles/wise-…

Honest question about #thevoice - after the initial cost of the referendum. Do we have any idea how much it is likely to cost each year? why no clarity or even interest in this crucial question.

@howertonjosh I learned from working as a radio host before/while planting a church, you get sick of playing the song just as listeners start recognising it.

@jenniferguo The horror of my first experience is not the norm. Scholar X was unreasonably adversarial. Granted, though I was fair in my presentation, I should have been more charitable in *how* I disagreed. In any case, I survived & it’s ancient history now.

My recent trip to regional SA (EP) was all kinds of refreshing. Perhaps a key reason was not spending so much time on my device each day. Instead I talked at length with real people, explored the world around me, and actually prayed with some consistency. #undistracted @Acts29
