Man of Tomorrow is being so fast tracked that they are doing main role casting weeks before filming starts. And not announcing, having actual auditions and testing. Like I said, the DCU isn’t a thing anymore. Internally they don’t have faith in it anymore in terms of scale. It’s no longer a universe and just a Superman trilogy (what Gunn is hoping for) with spin offs like Supergirl. Also, investors and execs have lost faith in Superman as a cinematic draw alone and some even blame comic book fans for not being aligned with the what the mass majority wants. They feel their version of Superman lacks real impact. Kids didn’t care to buy the toys and neither did the adult collectors. Execs don’t feel like this Superman is cinematic enough. I heard that some wanted a profit of $500+ including box office, after market video sales and merch. So the $100+ is a huge disappointment. Mot is Gunn’s last real chance to secure anything beyond. The term DCU is not being used to talk about DC as a whole and not a singular universe.

@DiscussingFilm Underrated casting or desperate? Royo is talented but this feels like Gunn recycling his Guardians indie vibe into Superman. The DCU is becoming a playground for character actors instead of building a real universe. July 2027 gonna flop hard.

@SchwayJohn Pedro Pascal is a huge miscast. Anytime a gay is cast in a major role is a failure.

I fought for the Krasinski fancast HARD and still think to this day that he coulda crushed a Hickman Reed But Pedro is hands down the best live action Reed and nails EVERY aspect of the character He's an actor you want being a central face of the MCU going forward
