EPRA has slapped us with three new separate charges: Ksh 3.47/kWh for fuel costs, Ksh 1.23/kWh for forex losses, and a Ksh 0.0154/kWh for a water levy. Together, this adds a punishing Ksh 4.70 to every single unit of electricity with the heavy charges before factored in. This means a 20% to 30% spike above the normal power bills. A family buying Ksh 200 worth of tokens will get 6.4 units today, when that exact same Ksh 200 bought 8 units just last month. How did we, as a country, sit back and allow this economic plunder to happen?

Today, police shot dead four Kenyans protesting the fuel price hike. Murkomen held a press conference this evening and spoke at length about the loss of property, with only a brief mention of the loss of lives. In Kenya, human life appears to have no value. Protests happen all over the world, some of them violent yet police in other countries routinely use non-lethal means to contain them. The police have no business using live bullets against unarmed citizens except in truly exceptional circumstances. Murkomen also claims politicians incited the looting and violence during today’s protests. However, just as in the past two years, these allegations will likely not be investigated, and no one will be arrested or prosecuted. Blaming public anger on a few politicians is an insult to Kenyans’ intelligence. The cost of living has skyrocketed, and many can barely afford three square meals a day, while Murkomen wears million-shilling suits and a Rolex Yacht-Master 37 Rose Gold watch worth KSh 4 million. They are stealing from us, flaunting the stolen money through lavish weddings, parties, helicopters, and expensive vehicles, then turning around to ask Kenyans why they are angry. This government lacks sense, direction, and integrity. With 449 days to go, we will send this regime packing and hold accountable those who stole from us and killed unarmed citizens. The police commanders responsible for the deaths of innocent protesters will be prosecuted. #RutoMustGo

EPRA has quietly turned electricity into another taxation machine. In May 2026 alone, Kenyans have been slapped with an extra Sh4.40 per kWh through forex adjustment, fuel energy charges, and water levies. This means every bulb switched on, every biashara running, and every family trying to survive now pays more, not because salaries increased, but because inefficiency and economic mismanagement must be financed by the ordinary citizen.

Ruto is no longer preparing to win 2027. He is preparing for what happens AFTER Kenyans reject the results. Look carefully at the pattern. Njoki Ndung’u being pushed to the ICC. Philomena Mwilu exiting soon. Warsame already singing “respect the appointing authority.” A carefully cultivated Supreme Court bench slowly taking shape around one man’s political survival. This is not random. This is architecture. A 7 judge shield designed to sanitize disputed elections, neutralize constitutional resistance and protect power at all costs. Kenyans must stop thinking rigging only happens at polling stations. Modern state capture happens in the courts, in appointments, in institutions and in silent elite deals made years before an election. Why is State House so invested in judicial positioning? Why are loyalists being rewarded strategically? Why is every independent institution slowly becoming politically obedient? Because Ruto understands one thing: The real battle after 2027 may not be in the streets. It may be in the Supreme Court of Kenya. Observe the SCOK carefully. Observe the appointments. Observe the silence. Observe the programming. This regime is not planning for democracy. It is planning for legal protection after democracy is violated. History has taught us one painful truth: When the judiciary is captured, the citizen becomes powerless. 2027 will not just be about votes. It will be about whether Kenya still has institutions strong enough to defend those votes. #Borrowed

The Finance Bill 2026 is now targeting the very systems ordinary Kenyans use to survive daily. Treasury plans to impose 16% VAT on payment platforms like Safaricom PLC M-Pesa, Airtel Money and Pesapal. They claim the tax is aimed at platform providers, but every Kenyan knows corporations rarely absorb new taxes quietly. The burden is almost always transferred to wananchi through higher transaction fees. For millions of Kenyans, mobile money is not a luxury. It is the economy itself. It is how workers send school fees, how families buy food, how SMEs survive, and how emergencies are handled instantly. Instead of reducing the cost of living, the government appears determined to tax every breath of economic activity left in the country.

Finance Bill 2026 is steadily transforming taxation from a revenue collection system into a mass financial surveillance regime. Under the proposed amendments, KRA would gain unprecedented access to private financial, commercial, and digital activity across the economy. Businesses earning above KSh 5 million annually would be compelled to integrate their accounting systems directly with KRA, effectively granting the tax authority continuous visibility into transactions, invoices, and operational records. Failure to comply attracts punitive monthly penalties.
