Once athletes get to the in-season, it is easy to neglect sprint work. This will not only lead to increased injury risk, but can also lead to decreased speed over the course of the season, as the residual effect is less than a week before top speed diminishes.

Research has shown that one of the most effective ways to limit your chances of a hamstring injury is to expose the tissue to high velocity running. Therefore, it is highly important to touch high speed running at least twice a week.

Stone has struck out 100% of his outs to lefties, only giving up two hits and walking one. Low slot sweepers with some velo and approach angle can be a weapon for pitchers to use.

He also has an above average horizontal approach angle from standing towards the 1st base side of the rubber and being a low release height guy. Let alone the movement and velocity of the pitch being elite he makes the pitch appear as if it is starting behind lefties.

Stone Hewlett is arguably the best left on left specialist in the country, in large part to a sweeping slider he throws 70% of the time. Stones sweeper averages 19 inches of horizontal break at 80 mph. 🧵 ⬇️
