@mangoster Couldn't agree more, when i reduced my sleep, stopped gym, got stressed etc. It directly affected my editing skills. I lost my creativity and lost so many clients at that time.

ur physical health affects ur editing more than u think when i stopped sleeping properly, literally everything got harder i thought i was just in a slump but really i was just tired this stuff sounds obvious but most editors ignore it because it doesn't seem that important we constantly optimize a thousand other things, but won't fix the one thing that affects everything else ur brain does the editing and ur brain runs on how well u treat ur body u can't hack ur way around that

"post ur work consistently or nobody will find u" ignored it. still get inbound clients. "u need a portfolio website to look professional" ignored it. still charge thousands per video. "say yes to every project when ur starting out" ignored it. said no to stuff that felt off even when i needed the money. "wake up at 5am and outwork everyone" ignored it. slept properly and did better work in less time. "follow trends or get left behind" ignored it. developed my own style and let people come to me for that. not saying this advice is wrong for everyone but i learned that most of it is just one path disguised as the only path the stuff that worked for me was almost always the opposite of what was popular u gotta learn to filter what applies to u and what doesn't

if an editor can genuinely become reliable and trustworthy in mine or another really good editor’s eyes he will never have to worry abt clients ever again a LOT of the people i know can vouch for this, after a certain point, you physically cannot take on every client that comes your way while maintaining the standard you’ve set for yourself so the best course of action in this case, becomes to refer someone you know and I’ve done that SO many times that everyone I’ve run out of people to refer 😭😭
