@hicksca_ @kelseyhightower To be honest, I don’t know. I feel like we(all) let it lie dormant for 2 to 4 years then try to solve it in 45 days each time but the people that can actually propose and legislate fight for another bit then walk away again.

@hicksca_ @kelseyhightower “Good” is relative. There are fears from both civil liberties groups and those on the opposite end of the spectrum about national databases of ids. The citizenship proof has the same privacy, theft, and security concerns as well as the burden and time required to prove.

@kelseyhightower First you have to get people to accept a national ID card as a concept. States fought Real ID requirements for nearly 2 decades before allowing it to go into effect. That’s before you get to the real fun overcoming biblical meaning to ID cards.

@QuinnyPig Long ago a service provider setup a server for the company and asked the owner what his daughter’s name was. That’s how their combination file, domain, and exchange server was born(spawned)

Elder sysadmins: share your ridiculous server naming schemes. I'll go first: Dune. Mailservers named after guild navigators, all-purpose utility server that changed identities all the time was "Scytale," 40 DHCP servers all named "Duncan Idaho," etc.

If you had to provide a use case for the book case to a pre-carpenter then repeat the use case to the account-carpenter before joining a third call to explain the use case again to the carpenter-engineer before getting a proposal, well. Looking at you enterprise “carpentry”

@KamalaHQ The X-32 is often referred to as the F-32. He may be familiar with names but not familiar with their actual duty history. F-32's do indeed exist. -VJ

@javebratt Yes, that would be a walnut. That outside part dries out and you are left with hard walnut shell and the nut meat inside.

Dear World, as the TP-apocalypse should have taught you. The entire world is held together with duct tape, glue, and popsicle sticks. One swift kick can make everything go away. Sometimes it’s a Thursday night deploy from a vendor.

The most peace/happiness I ever had in a job was restocking the paper aisle at Office Depot in college. Every evening I drove a forklift and stack boxes of paper. Things went from chaotic to pristine each night and I never had work stress.

@divinetechygirl Like @danielleps0 said it depends on scope(just like infosec). Small one in low wind area might only need to sit on a paver. Larger one with swing or bench maybe footer. What do you see when you think of it? A picture and rough size will do you and others wonders.

@AKermodeBear @SwiftOnSecurity I don’t hate SAML. I hate that every friggin app that uses it implements it in new strange and arcane ways.

@getwired I still remember watching that in the theater with a group of tech friends. The glee that turned to horror when Michael started punching it.

One thing I've been wondering about: Why is the US the only place where people get paychecks once every two weeks? And why does the rest of the world follow a once-per-month pay cadence? What caused this difference? (And are there more places paying once-every-two-weeks?)
