I hadn’t used @gitlab in a while - but wow it really does offer a compelling end to end experience that made me smile. Every time I thought “it would be nice if it had X”, blimey, X was there to try. It’s nice to smile

Maybe it’s me, but its not obvious that if I build a Docker image in a gitlab pipeline and store in its registry (amazingly simple to do) that to run it locally, I need to docker login to that registry and then pull it, to then see it to run it. Took me ages to think this way,

@shanselman Indeed - many interesting projects in multiple languages, there’s something for everyone which is inspiring. Zombie clients in wasm or a microvm controlled by the server are particularly audacious and make me grin (see CodeParadise or Catalyst)

@tastapod I’m still waiting for code-as-code where one can define what code should look like… by writing… “drum roll”… code 😅

someone nominate my podcast for an award. It’d be nice to win something before I hit 1000 episodes of fresh tech and fresh faces

@richajam Yeah… shocking isn’t it. Hopefully people read the full article Dan has dumped me in otherwise I’m doomed.

@tastapod That’s awesome! And guess what? I’m still patiently doing it, but I have also learned to pair with that “productivity manager” and their “boss” too!

@kelseyhightower It does seem like the dev’s Apple hired in a hurry couldn’t be bothered to learn the simplicity of the Smalltalk , Objective-C was trying to emulate and they went in the opposite direction with complexity. There aren’t enough simple languages like Go, Smalltalk, Lisp - shame.

@christianhujer I’ll go out on a limb and say there is nothing wrong with story points (I like the original ideal days ) - but agree advanced teams move away from them. But there aren’t many such teams… & will add I t’s not a lot about estimation, but more building design, trust & cadence

This affects the newer gen2 devices like the 1PM, the Dimmer2 and Shelly2.5 sensibly let you set a password that the app remembers … so easy to override device schedules in a hurry

Don’t you love it when the reply from a company is “the developers say this is expected product behaviour - it was decided by the R&D managers”. @ShellyCloud - not remembering light switch passwords more than 5 hours is ridiculous!
