@ji66y @justxhenry Lots of things like brokerage accounts will let you specify beneficiaries for when you pass. At a minimum make sure those are updated. A will is best bet though

@justxhenry Thank you for the advice and know it’s easy to look it up cuz google exists but how does one set up one’s assets and will? I’m gay and married but this is something I’ve been thinking about for awhile now JUST IN CASE something happens.

One thing about burying a partner and not being married as a gay person is that luckily he didn’t have major assets because if he did I’m sure his mother who he was estranged from would have taken everything. Gay men if you are in a relationship and not married and without children, especially if you don’t want to marry. Set up something legally to protect your assets and where they go when you leave this earth. Don’t leave your partner scrambling to figure things out. Be comfortable having a conversation about your death and don’t let your homophobic family get the things you worked hard for.
