Some personal news to share. My regular column with La Presse has been suspended indefinitely this week, after 25 years and more than 1,000 columns. This was not my decision. The decision is linked to recent public comments I made on social media regarding the evolving media landscape in Canada, including reflections on government support for media and its potential implications. I understand that these are sensitive and complex issues, and my remarks may not have aligned with the publication’s perspective. While I am disappointed, I fully respect their decision and remain grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to contribute over the years. I would also like to note that my contributions were always made on a voluntary basis. I was never compensated for my columns, and have personally supported La Presse through a paid subscription throughout that time. It has truly been a privilege to write for such an important institution. I continue to believe that open, thoughtful discussions about the future of media in Canada are both necessary and healthy.

Il y a un an aujourd’hui, le 1er avril 2025, le Canada annulait sa taxe carbone. Depuis, tous les automobilistes canadiens, sauf au Québec, profitent d’une baisse du prix de l’essence de 17,6 cents/litre. Cette injustice à l’égard des Québécois dure depuis un an. Un an de trop! Le prix trop élevé du gaz entraîne une hausse du coût de la vie, soit un appauvrissement des Québécois. Il augmente le prix de tout ce que vous consommez et l’inflation devient plus élevée au Québec qu’ailleurs au Canada. L’argent que les Québécois paient en trop sur l’essence finance un Fonds Vert qui distribue des milliards $ en subventions aux entreprises. Il faut abolir ce Fonds Vert. Ça ne coûterait ainsi pas un sou aux contribuables québécois d’abolir la taxe carbone. Seul le Parti conservateur du Québec veut vraiment réduire le prix de l’essence et explique comment financer ça.

BREAKING: Enoch Burke’s mother and sister arrested and jailed Martina and Ammi Burke were arrested by Gardaí today at Castlerea Prison after visiting jailed schoolteacher Enoch Burke, their son and brother. Judge Brian Cregan sentenced them to two weeks in prison after they spoke out against his lies and unlawful actions in the case of Enoch Burke. Martina and Ammi Burke had been teaching in Castlebar this morning before travelling to Castlerea for their scheduled visit at 2.15pm. As they left the prison after concluding the visit, Gardaí were waiting outside to arrest them. Lies have been told from the bench since September 2022 when Enoch Burke was first taken from his teaching post at Wilson’s Hospital School and thrown into a jail cell. He refused to call a student by a new name and the “they” pronoun. He was subsequently suspended and has now spent over 600 days in prison. Votre commentaire m’apparaît non seulement déplacé, mais également dégradant, au même titre que les propos tenus par ce jeune homme. En cherchant à expliquer son comportement par le terme “masculinisme”, inventé par le wokisme… un concept polémique, vous détournez l’attention des véritables enjeux et contribuez à une lecture partiale de la réalité.
