@MrsRuvi Every offensive player has to be behind either the ball or two defenders (one of whom is usually the goalie).

MrsRuvi: aggressively friendly
@itsbrianmiller No but really: does the offside rule just mean the defense could, theoretically stand out if kicking distance of the goal and the offense can never get closer than that?

My son’s soccer game is 6-1 at the half. I was under the impression soccer only allowed 3 scores max so this is riveting.

In practical terms, It’s really good for us to keep in our minds that there are basically two categories of reality we encounter in our everyday lives: 1. That which I am called to control. 2. That which I am not called to control. The reason so many people in our culture are dreadful at the first category is because they spend so much time raging against the second.

The sunk cost fallacy is the only thing holding big tech’s dominance over secondary education in place. 15 years ago, secondary schools around the country got sold, everybody got sold, great private schools and great public schools, the devices were new and magical and it was an optimistic moment, the great equalizer had arrived, a tablet for every child. But now the data is overwhelming, it has been a certifiable disaster. The average squirrel can focus far longer than the typical 15-year-old, seriously, observe a squirrel sometime. It’s embarrassing for schools to admit the mistake, l get it, but holding on is not progressive, it’s regressive, C.S. Lewis understood this… “We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place where you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man.” Order a dumpster and chuck all the devices.

She was met with people who could walk alongside her, answer the questions and invited her to more. Praise God!

At my home parish, I met a young adult woman who was baptized and confirmed and receive first communion. She said she grew up in the neighborhood and was always curious about the faith and in the last year and a half started asking lots of questions and just knocked on the door.

When you see bump into your pastor standing in line for Confession on Wednesday of Holy Week at the local Jesuit University... you know you've got a good one. Gotta get right before the biggest celebrations of the year!

@jdflynn It’s definitely something we hear from a lot of the pastors we work with and not just the ones who who are visibly and naturally gifted.

But the anecdotal evidence that “something is happening” seems pervasive among Catholic pastors.

Adding to the complicated picture of prospective religious revival in America. OCIA is reportedly up, non-religious identification declining, religious service weekly attendance, including Mass, still seems down. Is there a statistically evident religious revival? Hard to say
Ryan Burge 📊@ryanburge

I've got brand new data about American religion that was collected in October of 2025. And, folks... The share of Americans who are non-religious has dropped for the third year in a row. Atheists and agnostics are down to 5% each. Those are 2014 levels.

Liverpool are trained at a lower intensity so they can be more available We have 8 lads breaking career highs One already did They have a reduced capacity so a really intense game leaves them working at a significantly reduced level the following game They covered a season high in weds
