‘Elephants in the Fog’ just made Cannes history as the first Nepali film to win the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize.  The Nepali thriller centers on Pirati, the matriarch of a Kinnar community of “third gender” women. When her daughter disappears, she has to choose between the man she loves and her society. It’s the feature debut by writer-director Abinash Bikram Shah, whose short ‘Lori’ earned a Special Mention at Cannes in 2022.
