I am impressed with the execution speed of the HYPE team, when your competitive advantage is a flywheel (liquidity --> Spreads --> volume --> liquidity) rather than a feature list, you don't need a massive team shipping features. Almost every pitch deck I've seen as well focuses on "building better architecture" which is solving the wrong problem. Liquidity structure matters more than value! HYPE didn't build the best tech, they built the best market for perps. Key takeaways: -- Perps are a liquidity business, not a tech business -- Only one thing matters: can a trader get filled at a tight spread when the market is moving fast? -- Flywheel: tight spreads attract traders, more traders attract more liquidity providers, more liquidity makes spreads even tighter, repeat. Central bank buying is SLOWING: - 2022: 1,136 tonnes (record) - 2023: 1,037 tonnes - 2024: 1,044 tonnes - 2025 H1: 415 tonnes (down 21% YoY) Meanwhile, retail is SURGING: - GLD hit its largest single-day inflow EVER in September ($2.2B) - US gold ETFs: $32.7B inflows in 2025 - Global gold ETFs: $57.1B inflows (record levels) Arthur said GLD shares outstanding / price ratio falling and claims "retail schmucks aren't pamping gold." Wrong! That ratio falls BECAUSE price surged 42% while shares grew ~20% - it's a math artifact proving retail IS buying, not the opposite. Gold's 2025 rally was retail FOMO, not strategic sovereign repositioning. This makes gold LESS stable thanArthur thinks - retail selling during fear is far more violent than sovereign rebalancing.
