Filming in-store concepts has become one of my favourite parts of this job because no two shoot days are ever the same. Filmed a concept with Healthy Planet with their in-store experts. They know the products inside and out, but the second a camera comes out, it’s completely normal for people to get a little nervous. Before we filmed anything, I shared my vision. I showed them how I wanted each shot to feel, explained exactly what we’d be capturing, and adjusted the plan for anyone who wasn’t comfortable being fully on camera. By the time we started rolling, nobody was thinking about the camera anymore. They were just sharing what they know, and that’s exactly what I wanted the content to feel like. 💛 #ugc #ugccreator #ugccommunity

My approach was that people don’t buy hair fibers, they buy the confidence of not thinking about their hairline all day. The product doesn’t become the hero, the customer’s transformation does. I started the hook with a relatable pain point, demonstrated the transformation, then let the product earn the recommendation. One thing I’ve noticed in the UGC industry is that creators are often the only creative professionals expected to justify why they deserve to be paid before results exist. Nobody asks a web designer to refund their fee because sales were low. Nobody asks a photographer to work for free until the campaign succeeds. Nobody asks an editor to take payment only if the ad scales. Yet creators are constantly told to accept lower rates because “the brand is taking all the risk.” That’s simply not true. The brand is risking ad dollars. The creator is risking time, expertise, creative strategy, and the opportunity cost of saying no to other work. Both sides take risks. When a brand hires me, they’re paying for my ability to create a high-quality marketing asset and not for a guaranteed ROAS. No creative agency, copywriter, or videographer guarantees that every campaign will scale. Why should UGC creators be expected to? Conversion depends on far more than the creative. Landing pages, pricing, offers, targeting, ad spend, seasonality, competition, and even the product itself all play a role. That’s why a fair flat fee for creating the asset makes sense. If performance incentives are added on top, even better. But the value of creative work shouldn’t depend on whether Meta decides to bless an ad that week. We should absolutely focus on creating better content. But creators deserve to be paid for the work of creating, just as every other creative professional is. #ugc #ugccreator #ugccommunity
