Bernie Sanders’ AI tax proposal is not really about artificial intelligence. It is about control. The proposal would tax large AI companies at 50% of their profits, with the tax paid in company stock instead of cash. That means the government, or a government-controlled sovereign wealth fund, could become one of the largest shareholders in some of the most powerful AI companies in the world. That should worry people. Because once the government owns a major stake in a company, it does not just collect revenue. It gains influence. And if a sovereign wealth fund is sitting on trillions of dollars in company stock, that fund can start bending the will of the companies it owns. We have already seen what happens when large institutional shareholders pressure companies to follow social or political priorities instead of focusing on the business. AI is already powerful enough. Concentrating ownership and influence into the hands of a government-backed fund is not the solution.

@CryptoTaxFixer you are confused. the 50% tax is on equity not profits. it makes the government a massive shareholder with voting power. this arrangement does not prevent the profits from being reinvested on growth. but it does give the government the right to be involved in those decisions

A 50% tax on AI company profits sounds simple. “Tax the big companies. Give the money back to the people.” But that is not how this works. If you take half of a company’s profit, that company has fewer resources to grow, invest, hire, build, and compete. And if those companies still need to protect margins, they will raise prices on the companies that use their services. Then those companies raise prices too. Eventually, the cost comes back to the average person through higher prices for goods and services. That is the part politicians never want to say out loud. They sell the tax as a punishment for big business. But in the end, the public often pays for it anyway.

BREAKING: Iran says the US has agreed to pay $300 billion in reconstruction funds directly to Iran as part of the deal Pakistan announced, alongside the release of $24 billion in frozen funds with $12 billion released before negotiations even start, per Mehr News. This directly contradicts Trump's & Vance's claim that no funds will be transferred to Iran at all. If Trump denies this is true, there never was a deal. If Trump confirms, the US has fully capitulated to Iran's demands.

1. When you get things for free, you tend not to value them. Have you actually spent time with people on welfare or who live in public housing? I have. Very, very different mindset than taxpayers. 2. I don’t buy it. All the rich people were against Trump and he won anyway. Same with Mamdami. Wealthy individuals are incredibly politically ineffective outside of regulated industries, where they have capture.

This has got to be the dumbest genre of pro-Trump sycophancy. Their brains and souls are so poisoned that they can't see how insane it is, how indefensible it is for the president to threaten to deliberately mass murder civilians. Their position is, "No guys, it's 4D chess, chill," when the correct one is that someone who makes threats like that is not fit to lead. The best part is how they will concede that they were wrong if Trump "nukes" Iran, like it's a game with zero stakes beyond the inconvenience of tweeting "oops, missed on that one." The new right is simply morally and intellectually bankrupt beyond repair in America.

Donald Trump has been a national politician for a decade. Anyone still reacting to the guy’s negotiating tactics and hyperbole with this sort of hysteria ten years in should be disqualified from political commentary. If he nukes Tehran at 8pm, I’ll admit I’m the crazy one. When he doesn’t, this crew will admit nothing and find some other comment to be scandalized by.
