@EricDLombardi Love the idea here. We’re still missing any type of rail infrastructure in Simcoe/Muskoka. Northlander misses Orillia + Barrie. GO stops in Barrie and no further connection to Wasaga, Collingwood, Midland, Orillia. We need to connect more people with reliable transportation

We should build a High Speed Rail (HSR) Network for Southern Ontario. Today I argue in @TorontoStar, that for the price of Ford's Highway 401 Tunnel Vision, we can! But more than write an article, I've put together a proposal for what it can look like, and cost. (1/10) 👇👀

If Ford doesn’t want his personal phone records being released, he should use his gov-issued phone for work-related calls and texts. The solution is NOT to gut our freedom of information law.
Colin D'Mello | Global News@ColinDMello

This is the admission. Premier Doug Ford - who was compelled by an Ontario court to turn over his cell phone records says "personal cellphones" should be exempt from public disclosure. globalnews.ca/news/11733205/…

@donnelly_b Simcoe County, including Barrie, and Muskoka are prime markets given the diverse year-round tourism. There’s a shortage of accommodations generally, but the picturesque landscape is a great opportunity for these hotels

Southern Ontario (outside of Toronto) has an immense supply gap when it comes to design-forward lifestyle hotels. I mean, how many can you name? 🧵

Starting today and until U.S. tariffs are removed, Ontario is banning American companies from provincial contracts. Every year, the Ontario government and its agencies spend $30 billion on procurement, alongside our $200 billion plan to build Ontario. U.S.-based businesses will now lose out on tens of billions of dollars in new revenues. They only have President Trump to blame. We’re going one step further. We’ll be ripping up the province’s contract with Starlink. Ontario won’t do business with people hellbent on destroying our economy. Canada didn't start this fight with the U.S., but you better believe we're ready to win it.

I know Canadian politics always takes the least exciting route but in the .01% chance: - Mark Carney wins leadership - Mark Carney defeats Pierre Poilievre (minority gov) - Poilievre out as CPC leader - Doug Ford wins CPC race and wins majority gov in following election #cdnpoli

There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States. Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner.

Ottawa opened its O-Train Line 2 and Line 4 today. In my below evergreen tweet, I outline that Brampton could build a “B-Train” with similar technology on the Orangeville Brampton Railway corridor. GO Transit could also build/operate the service. Much cheaper than standard LRT!
Alex Glista 🇨🇦@AlexanderGlista

When I (often) tweet about the potential for GO trains on the Orangeville Brampton Railway, I don’t mean 12-car diesel loco-hauled trains. I mean modern multiple-unit trains, running frequently, like Ottawa’s O-Train Line 2. And look, you can build a trail beside the rails!

A ski/tourist train between Toronto Union Station and Collingwood is a no-brainer. A bit of rail corridor rebuilding is needed, but solidly within realm of reason. Plus, more people visit South Georgian Bay annually than Banff, so it is more than justified!
Alberta Regional Rail@ABRegionalRail

The Winter Park Express between Denver and Winter Park (Colorado) is the minimum passenger rail service that should be done in #Alberta between #Calgary and #Banff, and #Edmonton and #Jasper, leaving early in the morning and returning at the end of the day. #abpoli #Ableg

Make no mistake: the flooding we see in the city today is no surprise. It is an outcome of politicians taking a very very very shortsighted view of infrastructure planning and investment. Take a look at this vote from 2018 requesting an increase in stormwater infrastructure spending. It failed. Disinvestment in the city leads to the mess you saw today. Same with traffic congestion. Both are an outcome of a broken approach to municipal infrastructure financing - and a lack of leadership. Every politician who voted no to this - and many more similar votes that were about necessary reinvestment - should be held to account. They made this mess. This is entirely solvable. We even know *how* to solve it and we have the plans to solve it. But politicians refuse to fund it. Now we will waste billions cleaning up the mess.
Mike Layton@m_layton

@GraphicMatt @CoryJudson Dug up this vote from 2018 rate supported budget that asked for an increase in stormwater infrastructure spending. It failed.
