@BareLeft Capitalist invented the quote that you, the commie, stole. Words are free and you can't even say something innovative. Incredibly effective propaganda in favor of capitalism.

@omgsidewalks Who do you think "they" is here? Who do you think is building data centers and who do you think is in charge of "updating infrastructure"? I'll give you a hint, "they" are not the same

Unpopular opinion: The fact that they can quickly install data centers nationally means they could've been updating infrastructure which they claimed was too difficult and expensive.

@robrousseau People on the right consume leftist media without having some sort of cognitive breakdown. People on the left cannot imagine enjoying media that doesn't align with their personal political beliefs.

@DoveFemm Not only are SSRIs clearly over prescribed and induce horrible side effects, yes, sex and romance is actually an important thing to focus on. You're saying fuck off to the biological imperative of humanity?

@AlexJKelly Yes, firing squads are the most effective method but I've been told people consider it "barbaric". No one is comfortable with seeing the death part of the death penalty.

Regardless of one’s opinion of the death penalty lethal injection is cruelty masquerading as clinical sterility. If we’re going to have executions at all it should be by gunfire or decapitation. Both are more humane with none of the violence of it masked behind medical pretense.
Liv@Liv_Agar

The Overton window has swung so far right on this website that you forget that “I don’t want the state to be able to kill someone by forcing them to drown in their own blood for six minutes” is actually a normal thing to think

@JamesMancu9841 You know what also prevents the criminal from offending again AND helps to lower crime rates of similar crimes? A criminal justice system focused on rehabilitation. The only moral punishment is one that increases the good of society. State execution does not do good for anyone.

@CuckAlertX You're right it's way worse. You cheer for random political killings of non criminals and clutch your pearls when a proven criminal is given a trial and sentenced to death. Complete moral inversion.

@WriteToRebel We've seen what the marxist approach to crime is and yeah I want whatever the exact opposite of that is.

@TinyWriterLaura It is quite clear that progressives cannot stomach violence. Even the act of arresting someone is exported to someone more capable of violence than themselves. The thought of needing violence is beneath them. Criminals use this aversion to violence to their advantage.

this feels like a very american statement. in countries where we don’t have the death penalty we (generally, & i’m sure with exceptions) have a visceral reaction to the idea of giving the state legal execution power over its private citizens. it IS evil & backwards to us

Nobody asked for flying cars. Nobody asked for cities on Mars. Nobody asked for Al in every app. Nobody asked for robot butlers. Nobody asked for data centers everywhere Most people just want clean water, healthy food, bees to thrive, and a planet that's still worth living on.

@anannabananacan Oh no it was more along the lines of: if anyone is not going to be allowed to participate in society it will be the group that lacks the support of the majority. You don't realize you've already lost.

@carwee21 @cat__paws Your description of "blatantly barbaric" is subjective nonsense. You are queasy about the idea of execution. I understand and accept the weight of what it means to end someone's life. You cannot fathom this, so you dismiss the entire concept as bloodlust.

@itswcf @cat__paws You clearly do not if you think anything I said in that thread is my personal philosophy. Most people are against firing squads bc of how blatantly barbaric it is. Lethal injection gives the illusion of putting people down like pets. So congrats on being blatantly bloodthirsty!

@carwee21 @cat__paws This is not new information. This is your personal philosophy which you seem to believe is objective rather than subjective. I know how the death penalty is enacted. I know that firing squads have a 100% success rate (no botched firing squads, ever).

@itswcf @cat__paws Clearly, because I don’t think it’s moral or ok to allow the government the ability to kill its own citizens. You also don’t possess knowledge on the realities of the death penalty, how it is enacted, and where. Here’s some basic starter info for you, I recommend you read more:
Carly 𖤐@carwee21

@_pepedel @generatorofmilk @Liv_Agar As the other person said, it poses no value other than vengeance. No other crime is treated as “an eye for an eye.” We don’t expect the GOVERNMENT to legally order the rape of a rapist, or rob the house of a robber, or beat someone within an inch of their life as they had done.
