Was with a friend yesterday and we mentioned someone we both knew like 20 years ago but had totally forgotten about. During the convo, I searched for her on Facebook on my phone so we could see what she was up to now. Then today my friend gets an email from Facebook about this person (“[name] added a new video”). So either his phone mic was listening to our conversation and relayed the info to Facebook or Facebook noticed that his friend (me) had searched for this long-lost mutual connection. Either way, pretty creepy.

זו לא הטענה כמובן. שקר. ביהמש לא יכול לקבל החלטות במקום הכנסת. הוא לא קובע מדיניות. אין לו את כלי הרשות המבצעת. רוב מוחלט של %99.9 ויותר החלטות של הממשלה ושלוחותיה עוברות ללא כל ערר לביהמש. ביהמש מתערב במצב של חוסר סמכות, חוסר סבירות קיצוני, פגיעה בזכויות וכו'- כדי להגן על העם.

@KordingLab In Eastern Germany we hardly talked about anything else, it's a main staple of Marxist economic analysis, a major trope in dystopic SciFi, and intellectually salient too! Interesting question is why megacorporations seem to be more benign in practice than one would expect

Why do we talk a lot about alignment now and did not talk so much about it when the modern megacorporation emerged? They seem similar in many respects.

Israelis have never expected Palestinians to "surrender"; they expected them to understand that the occupation is a temporary necessity; awaiting some acknowledgment that Tel Aviv is not a stolen land. None thus far. @daoudkuttab
