UPDATE ON ONGOING REHABILITATION WORKS ON LEKKI–EPE EXPRESSWAY The Lagos State Government continues rehabilitation works on the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway as part of its commitment to safer roads, smoother travel, and improved daily commuting for residents and businesses. The project is structured in six sections along the Lekki–Victoria Island corridor bound. As of today, three sections have been successfully completed, while work on the remaining sections is ongoing. The completed sections were carefully phased as follows: Chevron–Igbo-Efon: 1.06km (completed in 6 days) Igbo-Efon–Jakande: 1.57km (completed in 8 days) Jakande–Chisco: 1.88km (completed in 9 days) Although these sections were collectively scheduled to take 23 days, they were delivered in 16 days, demonstrating efficiency, coordination, and sensitivity to the daily realities of road users. The rehabilitation goes beyond resurfacing. It includes drainage restoration, strengthening of weak road sections, fresh asphalt surfacing, clear lane markings, and kerb painting, all targeted at improving safety, reducing travel time, and enhancing driving comfort. The State Government acknowledges the temporary inconvenience experienced during construction and assures residents that all decisions are guided by urgency, empathy, and the long-term benefit of Lagosians. Traffic management continues to be coordinated by the relevant agencies to minimise disruption as work progresses on the remaining sections. As rehabilitation continues, Lagosians can expect steady progress toward what truly matters: ease of movement, peace of mind, and a road network that works for the people.

So a Road Safety official can just shoot you in Nigeria, and say it’s because you had no seat belt on. Or worse still, that you were speeding. Or they can just shoot you for the fun of it, remove your seatbelt after killing you and then accuse you of not wearing one. Madness.
