ఆయన జిహాద్ అన్న పదం వాడారు కొత్త నవల విషయంలో అని ఓ తిట్టేస్తున్నారు ఆయనను? ఆయనేమో నేను కూడా మనువాద విమర్శకుడినే నేను కూడా అభ్యుదయవాదినే ఏదో ముస్లిం జిహాద్ గురించి ఒక మాట అంటే నన్ను హిందుత్వ అనేస్తారా అని సంజాయిషీ చెప్పుకుంటున్నారు? నేను కూడా మీ వాడినే నేను ప్రగతికాముకుడినే ఆ మతం వారిని ఒక మాట అన్నాను అని నన్ను వేరు చేయకండి అని అంటున్నారు ఆయనేమో. మళ్ళీ తిరిగి తిరిగి విమర్శకుల బాధ ఏమిటి అంటే మత మార్పిడులు బలవంతంగా జరిగినవి కావు అన్ని స్వచ్ఛందంగా జరిగినవే అసలు లోపాలన్నీ మీ సమాజంలోనే ఉన్నాయి మీ ధర్మంలోనే ఉన్నాయి అని అర్ధం వచ్చే అరిగిపోయిన పాత టేపు పాట పాడుతున్నారు. ఇంతే ఈ తెలుగు సాహిత్య సమాజపు అభ్యుదయవాదం ఇలానే ఉంటుంది. మైనారిటీఫిలియా అంటే మైనారిటీ మతాన్ని పల్లెత్తు మాట అనరాదు. మీరు చెప్పేది చారిత్రిక సత్యమైనా సరే. మనోభావాలు నొచ్చుకుంటాయి హిందువులవీ ఇతరులవి. కాబట్టి మౌనంగా ఉండాలి. ఒయికొఫోబోయా ఉత్తమ లక్షణం. అంటే పరాయి సంస్కృతి పట్ల వల్లమాలిన ప్రేమ అభిమానం చూపటం. సొంత సంస్కృతి పట్ల తీవ్ర ద్వేషం అపరాధభావం న్యూనత వంటివి కలిగి ఉండటం. రెండు లక్షణాలు ఉంటే ఉత్తమం. ఒకటైనా ఉండాలి కనీసం. నాకు ఇదంతా లేదు నాకు నా సంస్కృతి మీద అభిమానం ఉంది అంటే కుదరదు. అన్నట్టు ఈ జిహాద్ గురించి చర్చ చేసిన రచయిత గురించి కూడా ప్రస్తావించాను వ్యాసం మొదట్లో. వీటన్నిటి ప్రస్తావన వలనే ఆ వ్యాసం అంత పెద్దగా వచ్చింది. మరేం చేసేది పరిస్థితులు అలా ఉన్నాయి. ఆయనను కూడా భైరప్పతో పోల్చారు. ఇదొక పద్ధతి. ఫలానా రచయితను భైరప్ప అనేస్తే చాలు కాబోలు వీళ్ళకు. విమర్శ పూర్తయినట్టే. ఈ పిచ్చికి పైత్యానికి విశ్వనాథ మార్గంలోనే విరుగుడు ఉంటే గింటే. లేదంటే ఇంతే సంగతులు. ఆయన ధర్మాన్ని తిట్టలేదు. ధర్మం సుఖముగా బ్రతుకుటకు ఏర్పడినది అన్నారు. ఈ మాట అనటానికి మన మేధావులలో చాలా మందికి నోరు నొప్పి. కొట్టుకు చావటానికి ఏర్పడింది మతము అన్నారు. ఈ సిద్ధాంత మతాలు అంటే మార్క్సువాదం వంటివి కూడా అంతే. చివరికి అందరం కొట్టుకు చావాల్సిందే. sanchika.com/viswanatha-vee…

Built using the ancient Indian stitched-ship technique, this ship highlights India's rich maritime traditions. I congratulate the designers, artisans, shipbuilders and the Indian Navy for their dedicated efforts in bringing this unique vessel to life. My India trip is coming to an end, but I just got another glimpse of the divinity in my civilization that has left my heart brimming over. Many of you would have heard the child prodigy @RahulVellal who sang “Pibare Rama Rasam” for Vande Guru Paramparam on Youtube (Kuldeep Pai’s channel). It has 16 million views on Youtube today. I still remember how the song impacted me eight years ago. The sweetness of Bhakti in that child’s voice had filled me with the quiet ecstasy of Rama-smaraṇa. A few weeks ago, Rahul’s father Ravishankar ji wrote to me after my profile appeared on his Facebook feed, inviting me to his son’s concert in Delhi. What were the odds of that? Rahul is now eighteen, performing across India and abroad in the US, the UAE, and beyond. I replied that I was in Bengaluru but would love to meet him sometime, especially with my mother, who adores his “Pillangoviya Cheluva Krishnana.” I didn’t expect a response, assuming the family must be swamped with recordings, travel, and studies. But I was wrong. Not only did Ravishankar ji reply, he proposed a date, time, and even sent a gentle reminder! Today, my mother and I visited the Vellal family in their Bengaluru home. What can one say about such noble souls? I came away praying that every gifted child finds parents like them who nurture with devotion, discipline, and love, yet without pressure. I had presumed, rather unfairly, that Rahul must have been steered by his parents into engineering alongside his music career. It turned out he himself had chosen that path wishing to enter a top college through his own effort. Yet what touched me most was not merely their tapasya or their accomplishments. India abounds in hardworking students and self-sacrificing parents; our very educational heritage is built upon them. What stood out for me was the spirit of Shraddha that sanctified everything in their home. The trophies and medals were interspersed with pictures of Rahul with gurus —Pejavar Swamigalu, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and SP Balasubrahmanyam blessing little Rahul. And in the midst of all this grace, there was not a trace of pride, only humility, gratitude, and a sense of an unending journey of learning. The Vellals are a living embodiment of Dharma. When we rose to leave, Rahul, his mother, and father bowed to my mother, touched her feet, and sought her blessings. They offered arishina-kumkuma, gifts, and dakshina in the traditional manner. I was deeply moved, even embarrassed, for it should have been I showering the young artist with gifts, not the other way around. When I heard that Rahul now learns under the celebrated duo @ranjanigayatri, I almost let out a whoop of joy. Their musical brilliance is matched only by their moral courage; they have stood firm against forces that seek to erode the soul of Carnatic music. With mentors such as these, I know Rahul will never lose his compass. I hesitantly asked if Rahul would like to sing for us. Knowing how famous singers are often plagued by song requests at every concert and family gathering, I was ready for a no. To my surprise, he agreed with warmth and humility. As his voice filled the room with the same compositions he once sang as a boy, now deepened with maturity yet untouched in innocence, I watched my mother sitting with her good ear toward him (the other ear is deaf), face radiant with joy. That moment alone was worth my entire trip. We are living in turbulent times in India. Cities have become unlivable. Crass commercialization of everything without any regard for Dharma or aesthetics is ruining everything that our Gurus built for millennia. The respect for sacred knowledge is waning. It is when I meet artistes like Rahul Vellal and experience the goodness of families like his, I am reminded that when everything collapses around us, it is this kind of Bhakti; pure, steadfast and luminous that will endure and take us towards a better yuga.

Earlier this year, after 50 phenomenal years of working, my father retired from his work. His first job in 1975 was as a typist. He retired in 2025 as Senior Vice President in Bank of America in Boston, USA. I wanted to share his remarkable journey. Sometimes I even feel that even words like remarkable don’t do enough justice to where he comes from and what he has achieved. He came to Hyderabad in 1975 for a unique reason – he failed his 12th class English exam and wanted to meet the Board officials to understand why! And then decided to stay in Hyderabad and work part-time jobs before finding a full-time job. We had this appointment letter of his first full-time job from January 1977, in ICRISAT, as Field Helper. He made the best use of facilities available at an International organisation like ICRISAT and learnt a lot about Computers and scripting/programming while at work! He did his bachelors and masters from Open University while working, because it was needed for me and my brother to get admissions into a good school! After 22 amazing years in ICRISAT (that included a 2 year stint in AVRDC in Taiwan!), he got an opportunity in the USA in 1998. After a couple of consultant jobs, he joined Bank of America in Boston, in the year 2000, and retired in 2025 from them 😊. He was writing scripts as late as 2024! So 47 out of his 50 years of working was with 2 companies – it’s amazing, his stability and loyalty. Moving to the US at such a time was very challenging, and it is really important to note the phenomenal nature of how my mom had adapted to this massive change - she learnt the language after coming here; stood like a rock for us silently all these years; and adapted exceptionally well to challenging circumstances. His work and service outside of the office is also really amazing. Am attaching a newspaper snapshot (in Telugu) about how all the work he has done for the students of his village (and all the government schools he studied in). My dad’s name is Valasayya. “Valasa” in telugu means “to migrate”. The news article talks about how he migrated, true to his name 😊, and yet didn’t forget about where he came from! Can go on and on about many such inspiring stories about him 😊. In this era of Social Media overdose of topics related to work-life, knowledge-gaining, capacity-building, career-switching, networking, upskilling, and what not – here is someone who has silently done all of this (and more!) without making any sound! From failing in 12th class to retiring as the Senior Vice President in Bank of America, the life he experienced is really stuff of legends 😊. Thank you for reading this and hope you liked his journey!
