You ask my nationality. I say, "Canadian." Then you ask when I arrived in Canada. Why does that matter? If I'm Canadian, the question has been answered. Too often, the follow-up implies some Canadians belong, while others must explain their presence. Canadian is Canadian.

Dear @durhamcollege An A+ student reached out for support after being denied placement due to clearance issues beyond their control despite following all required steps in good faith. These barriers raise serious equity concerns. Institutions must commit to academic justice.

@birgitomo @durhamcollege This isn’t an isolated case. Ontario colleges rely on Synergy, a monopolistic and overwhelmed clearance service. Students bear the physical, emotional, financial, and psychological cost of delays. Without clearance, nursing students lose required clinical placements. @fordnation

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been awarded the @CIHR_IRSC doctoral research award to support my PhD on Black maternal health. A heartfelt thank you to my incredibly supportive supervisor, @KTerna who champions me fully on my journey to disrupt the status quo. You inspire me 🫶🏿

Today, I joined Ministers @SylviaJonesMPP and @NatKusendova at @sheridancollege in #Brampton to announce over $56M in funding to train 2,200 more nurses at postsecondary institutions across Ontario. Our government is ensuring students gain the hands-on skills and experience needed to succeed in high-demand careers. This investment will strengthen and protect Ontario’s health care workforce – now and for generations to come. Learn more: news.ontario.ca/en/release/100…

@birgitomo Like you, I feel this loss personally. Black women deserve better maternal care. Your advocacy matters, & your voice will save lives. I'm here to support you. We're tired of being the statistics. #BMH

I lost a friend who was pregnant with twins. They all died. The system continues to fail us Black women. My heart is broken💔 The prioritization of Black maternal health isn’t an option. It’s a must, & I’ll devote my entire being to advocating for Black maternal health equity.

To the 80 survivors of Delta Flight 4819’s crash at Pearson Airport yesterday-your survival is nothing short of a miracle. I’m so grateful you’re still with us. This is a second chance at life-cherish it, embrace it, and live it fully. I wish you all strength & healing.

@birgitomo We need more Black mentors. I mean, take my hand and show me how it's done. Guide me until I, too, can take the hand of another.

This year, 2025, I look forward to seeing more Black people in positions of power start to wield their influence to speak truth to power. It’s not enough to get to the top but how well are you representing those looking up to you?

@TrentUniversity There is a weather advisory in place for PTBO. I'm still waiting for TrentU to post an official statement. Some people have to commute to campus from over a 100km's. We must always prioritize student safety.

@birgitomo This heinous act requires immediate attention from elected officials as well as the hospital board. The fact that she is seeking justice on her own shows us just how broken the system is. Why do we keep failing those who give so much in service. I 'm so sorry, sis.

I am so angry. A nurse reached out to me - she was brutally scalded with hot coffee by a white patient, who waited until her face was up before pouring it on her. Then, he called her the n-word. She’s looking for legal help. Please retweet. Black nurses deserve to feel safe too.

Today is a wonderful day for women's reproductive rights as Manitoba becomes the second Canadian province to provide free birth control! I call upon the Canadian govt to step up and make it free nationwide. Manitoba, you have my heart! 💜 #ReproductiveRights #FreeBirthControl

@SIKAOFFICIAL1 Really sweet guy. The folks here are so respectful of each other's opinion. I have seen a replica show that was fraught with violence. I like the vibe here. But what really do women want 🤔?

I’m so proud of the nursing students who are calling for paid practicum placements in Canada. I don’t see why nursing students can’t enjoy paid practicums like medical students in Canada. This is where the disrespect for female-dominated professions like nursing stems from. It’s time to change things up! “The nursing students say the current practicum model is discouraging students from diverse backgrounds from entering the profession since not everyone has the financial flexibility to work for free.”

@CBCNews I'm so glad the voice of reason prevailed on this one. Everyday Canadians are stretched beyond their limit. This is in no way sustainable. Wages are stagnated, housing is both unavailable & unaffordable, & food insecurity has ballooned out of proportion.

Dear @JustinTrudeau Don't tell me that you haven't heard of the inhumane treatment African refugees are enduring right now, sleeping on the streets of Toronto. These people deserve similar treatment as Ukranian refugees who were immediately housed and provided with healthcare.

Heartbreaking, to say the least. For many, this is the land of opportunities... a place where dreams are fulfilled. This brings to the fore notions of deservingness. Simply put, some immigrants are more deserving/desirable than others. toronto.citynews.ca/2023/07/14/tor…
