Interest rate hike by ECB today is fantastic news for banks. They get extra remuneration on bank reserves. This now amounts to €107 billion in coming year. ECB will up this to €128 billion in March. A mega-present for bankers who did cepr.org/voxeu/columns/… via @cepr_org

Central banks are increasing interest rate to fight inflation. They do this by raising interest rate on bank reserves. In doing so, they transfer large part of their profits to banks (they subsidise banks), instead of transferring these to cepr.org/voxeu/columns/… via @cepr_org
