@NaturalEngland Yet it is @NaturalEngland policy to exterminate the Isle of Wight's native deer in order to make the entire county a deer free study zone, no matter what the cost to woodland glade species such as the pearl-bordered fritillaries which have now become extinct here

Every native species we save strengthens the web of life that supports us all.💚 This extraordinary new investment in the Species Recovery Programme means restoring more thriving ecosystems at scale for a healthier, more resilient future for people and nature.

@DefraGovUK Native deer on the Isle of Wight, both red and roe, despite being extremely rare here, are continuously under threat from ill-conceived public sector attempts to slaughter every last one of them to turn the whole county into an experimental deer free zone! Shame on them!

The @FT is reporting that hapless, hopeless, incompetent Ofwat is about to let Thames Water off £123 million in fines. That Ofwat would be a very, very bad idea. You will want to think again.

One mature tree absorbs ~20–48 lbs of CO₂ per year while giving us clean oxygen. Scale it: Planting 1 trillion more trees could eventually store roughly 750 gigatonnes of CO₂. That’s equivalent to about 20 years of current global fossil fuel CO₂ emissions — a massive one-time drawdown of legacy carbon while forests regrow. Trees also cool cities, rebuild soil, boost wildlife and give great hugs! We don’t need to wait for governments. Plant Trees & protect what already exists.

🌳 The Unseen Cost of Deforestation: A Wildlife Tragedy 🌍 Every year, our planet loses an area of forest equivalent to the size of England, and with it, we're not just losing trees. Here's the heart-wrenching part: Daily Loss: Imagine 137 species of plants, animals, and insects disappearing. Every. Single. Day. That's not just a number; it's a daily memorial service for biodiversity. Yearly Extinction: We're talking about a staggering 50,000 species waving goodbye forever, annually. To put it in perspective, that's like erasing an entire city of unique life forms from Earth's map each year. The Amazon's Cry: In the Amazon alone, home to millions of species, deforestation is like setting off an extinction bomb. Creatures from the tiniest insect to the majestic jaguar are losing their homes, and many, their lives. Why Should You Care? Because these aren't just numbers: Koalas cuddling trees that are no more, left to face fires and starvation. Orangutans swinging their last swing as their forest homes turn into palm oil plantations. Birds whose songs are being silenced, their migration routes now just memories in the sky. But Here's How We Can Turn Likes Into Action: 👍 Like if you believe every creature has the right to live. 🌍 Share to spread awareness faster than deforestation spreads. ✅ Follow for more insights into saving our planet's wildlife. 🌱 Act: Support conservation efforts, choose products wisely, and let's make deforestation a thing of the past. Remember, each like, share, and follow is a vote for Earth's wildlife. Let's make our virtual support loud enough to echo in the real world! #SaveWildlife #Deforestation #NatureNeedsUs #EverySpeciesMatters

The Earth's glaciers are retreating at a pace that's not just a slow melt, but more like they're sprinting for the equator. For instance, if the current rate of melting continues, the glaciers in the Himalayas, which provide water to over a billion people, could lose about 66% of their ice by 2100. But here's the kicker – this isn't just about picturesque ice caps disappearing into the ocean; it's about water security, ecosystems, and global sea levels. Imagine cities like New York or Shanghai starting to take swimming lessons because we thought "later" was a good time for action. This rapid ice loss underscores an urgent need for immediate climate action, lest we want our future maps to be redrawn by the rising tides. #ClimateAction #ClimateChange #ActNow
