There's an evil I have noticed amongst Nigerians in respect to government projects in most communities. Some years back along calabar-Itu Road, when the contract was awarded for the road, it was discovered that some buildings along the mapped out roads will be affected, and as a practice, affected houses with proper documents will be compensated. The villagers living along that road instantly started erecting funny structures on the road to attract compensation from the government. What even got me more was seeing lots of tombs being built at every corner of the road all in the name of getting compensated. This very acts continued and at some point, the project was affected. My take is, why would people out of ignorance shut doors against themselves just because of a momentary gain.
