AZAPO founder Don Nkadimeng warned that a negotiated Bill of Rights between De Klerk and Mandela would lock in the existing distribution of land and wealth, protecting White property under the language of rights.
Unfortunately, he was right. This is exactly what happened with the 1996 Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

@TheMafiaPoint I’d love to watch this all over again. Very addictive!

Thanda Choir managers, Julio Teixeira and Luke Bernhadi, are adamant every cent made from choir performances goes towards the organisation. When asked to share their financials with us, we were met with an attempt to gag us with an NDA from their lawyers. #CarteBlanche

This is #Joburg. Others would have us believe it’s just potholes and infrastructure decay. Like many parts of our country, including Cape Town, the city is not perfect. In many respects it’s much better than it was before, more inclusive and loved by its people. Much more remains to be done

No car day. I took the train to downtown Johannesburg for the first Main Street Sunday, experiencing our inner city Joburg on foot without traffic, celebrating public space, community and art with the amazing people of Jozi. 🫶🤩💛

Zille is very effective as opposition, getting the ANC-led coalition to work in Joburg. She must remain there - in opposition 🖤💚💛

@AfricanArchives Nonsense.
Xhosa people are indigenous in South Africa.
Migrated from where? Who speaks isiXhosa on those parts you claim we migrated from?
Who performs their traditions like Xhosa people?
We trace our kingdoms to 11th Century here in South Africa. Who else can?

@maverickvaks @HistorySAZAR Vusi Khumalo is a drummer and always has been. Maybe there was also Bakithi Khumalo in there who’s a bass player now based in the US. I also see the late Lawrence Matshiza, guitarist and producer standing next to Vusi Khumalo.

@HistorySAZAR Vusi Khumalo, bassist, I think the guy next to him is Bra Sipho "HotStix" Mabuse then Im forgetting the one squatting next to him🤔

Thetha was a South African funk and synth-soul group active during the 1980s. Originally known as Exit, the Johannesburg-based band changed their name to Thetha to secure an international performance contract. Their 1986 album, Dark Street, Bad Night, is a notable example of their mid-80s "synth-soul" sound. Their 1985 maxi-single "Love Me Tonight" became one of the group's most successful Afro-funk tracks. Credit: C-Plan Audio

@Mhlangabezi_ One of my all-time fave tracks, especially the content and meaning of the message of the piece. Bab’ Ngenekhaya Mahlangu flips me over totally on his ‘Tsakwe’ solo!
