I think a huge misconception in trading options is buying short-dated contracts ( 1 week or less ) to make a lot of money.. unless you have true experience under your belt & proven consistency. 95% of the time I'm trading 3-6 month out contracts & taking entries where there is minimal downside risk & I would cut the trade if it invalidates. This is easy to keep losses small & milk the winners as you have plenty of time & theta won't affect much on the contracts.

The influx of $$$ into the system, Post-COVID, has fundamentally altered how markets behave When there’s a surplus of capital, it doesn’t just push stock prices higher; it changes the underlying dynamics of how those companies are valued Normally, stocks are priced based on their fundamental financials —> things like future cash flows, earnings growth, etc... But with so much capital floating around, that logic starts to break down What happens instead is that markets begin to price in something much more speculative: future speculation Investors stop asking, “What will this company earn next year?” and start asking, “How much attention will this company get in the future? How much hype will their new product generate?” (Think: $TSLA, $MSTR) This creates a feedback loop where stocks aren’t just valued for their current performance or outlook, but based on the belief that their value will continue to rise due to an ever-growing pool of speculative attention When enough people start to believe that a stock’s price will keep rising due to hype and media attention, the price starts to rise for reasons disconnected from its actual fundamentals Investors/traders pile in, not because they believe the company is worth more, but because they think others will also believe it will be worth more This speculative cycle feeds itself, driving prices even higher As we all know, once the cycle accelerates, it becomes a bubble. The value of the stock is no longer tied to its true financial health but to the expectation that more people will buy in because of the momentum The more attention a stock gets, the more people believe in its future growth, and the higher its price goes However, this isn’t sustainable. At some point, reality catches up. Although, it is near-impossible to predict when the music stops My thought process has always been to ride the wave, until it shows signs of losing momentum. I've learned from experience not to predict when it all comes crashing down, but to focus on playing the 'game' in front of me Contextualization in trading is key: You need to detach your personal biases from a trade setup and solely look at it from a objective perspective. Focus on data that you have access to, price action, and the risk-reward profile rather than any emotional attachment or preconceived notions I’ve seen many retail traders compare the current market conditions to a Ponzi. While there may be some truth to that, it’s still the reality we’re operating in. You can either accept it and adapt, or risk suffering the consequences of fighting against the market’s momentum I’ve tried both options throughout my trading career, and the former has proven to be far superior -Ben
