This is the kind of thing that haunts families, and it haunts me and my deputies.  All because a prosecutor won't prosecute a crime. A man cosplaying as a woman sexually assaults a young lady as part of a sport.  It's on tape. That's what happened.  We recommended charges.  The Pierce County prosecutor declined to charge and says the fact that it was a man doesn't have any bearing on the assault. It's right there. On video.  They don't want you to believe your own eyes.  It's gaslighting.  It's awful. To everyone on here.  Flood the internet with this story.  They're not listening and it's time we got loud. USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving. Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free. I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these." "They just come with the table, man." They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner. This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat. I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared. "Did we…?" "Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless." Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined. My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude." Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man. I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy. Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived. I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most. Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.

Sun Anus and Live Evil are the only palindromes I can think of where the spelling is symmetrical but also the concepts are opposites as well, in some sense. Can you think of any others? I also think they deserve their own classification. Like a pataphor is an extended metaphor, maybe an extended palindrome can be a ‘patapalindrome.’ Maybe Madam I’m Adam works too? Kind of.

The CA Legislature tried to strike these words from the state constitution in 2020 (put there by Prop 209 in 1996). The voters smacked them down when 57.23% said NO—despite the YES campaign outspending the NO team by more than 14 to 1. Now they’re trying again—calling it a “clarification” instead of an effort to gut the provision’s application to public education. Don’t believe them. If approved by the voters, this would be a major change. The aim is to pave the way for the recommendations of California’s Task Force on Reparations. The Task Force wants to make college free to African Americans no matter how well off their parents are and to get school districts to fund individual schools based on the race of the students who attend. @christopherrufo

All Day and All of the Night. You Really Got Me. Sunny Afternoon. Come Dancing. Every one of those songs was written by the same person. Can you name the band?

What is the protocol and training for law enforcement in the UK if they arrive at a scene and one man who is standing and healthy says “this man said something racist and hit me” and the other man is curled up on the ground, incapacitated and says “I can’t breathe, I’ve been stabbed.” Two men. One is on the ground unable to move, clearly the weaker and less threatening party to the incident. Why would police immediately handcuff the man on the ground. No interview or discussion with him. No examination. No assistance or aid rendered. No investigation, just automatically handcuff one man, the obviously weaker and incapacitated one; and leave the other man standing without handcuffs? What procedure leads to this. The man on the ground didn’t threaten anyone, he was barely able to speak. He said he’d been stabbed. But police automatically believed the stronger party, the one standing over him. Why? What training and doctrine tells them to arrive at a scene and automatically believe one man, among two, who claimed to have been in an altercation? And why would they handcuff a person who can barely move and already be reading him his rights without ANY investigation or interviewing both parties. The dying man on the ground wasn’t armed or dangerous or doing anything. Why would he immediately be placed in handcuffs. What’s the procedure that leads to that. Anyone in the UK or visiting the UK should want to know. If one is a victim of assault or a stabbing how does one not get handcuffed for being the victim? What could the victim have done or said so that police wouldn’t immediately handcuff him and accuse him and basically judge him guilty without interviewing both parties to the altercation they believed had taken place? Is there anything that the victim could have done to get police to render assistance? He said he had been stabbed and couldn’t breathe. Two officers (at least two) dismissed this and automatically judged him guilty and were inclined not to believe him. What training tells an officer that they shouldn’t believe a wounded person who is curled up on the ground saying he has been stabbed…and instead believe the stronger man standing over him? What is the protocol and training that leads to this? It should be investigated and the entire training changed so police are trained to render aid and assist and not automatically believe the perpetrator of a crime and dismiss the victim This isn’t “he said-he said” or “both sides”…they never interviewed the dying person, Henry Nowak; they just put him in handcuffs. Why? Everyone should be shocked by this case and demand more answers We need to know why the officers did this. Anyone walking the streets of the UK should want to know.
