@FloraSCooper I left! After 30 years. The only regret I have is for the children/young people. The system, imo puts them bottom of the pile, below paperwork and politics. 🤦🏼

The education system is collapsing. It's time for all of us to re-look at everything. Now is the time to reform and revolutionise education. How many times must we keep saying this? This can not go on - the system is losing people every day because of this.

@teachergrind I left in the summer when I realised the pupils were not the main focus of education. I now do practical, physical outdoor work, I love it!

Does anyone else get restless legs at night? I’ve had it before, but in the last few days it’s been ridiculous. No sleep last night. It’s driving me crazy!

@sci_co7 @Missymusician81 I’m the same. Don’t really want anything to do with most of my family - it took me til 50 Years old to be brave enough to put me first. The guilt doesn’t stop but I feel much better.

@Missymusician81 I choose not to spend time with family (except my sis) as it’s better for me. We have little in common and I found it difficult to take their lack of understanding. A couple of years ago, I decided that I needed to step away, and life is much easier! Do what is right for you.

@SandyofSuffolk In those days the autistic ones were often in special classes or (with money) sent away to school. In my high school between 1981 and 1989 (when I attended) there was a ‘remedial’ room

I went to school 1963 to 1975. In all of that time, I never came across another child who had: ADHD; Autism; Anxiety; Obesity; Confusion over their gender; What changed? Social media? The Internet? Parenting? Teaching? What?

@thosethatcan 2/2 I’ve since left teaching following a really dark time. I feel much Gallier, healthier and more relaxed. Also - holidays are a lot cheaper and quieter.

@thosethatcan During the last 8 years of my teaching career I was made to feel inadequate, antiquated and a nuisance. This was because schools were becoming Academies. The heads and deps were younger than me and I tried to help with my 30 years experience - they felt threatened 1/2

@Thinkingschool2 We DO need to ask teachers why they are leaving. I left because of the toxic working environment, the fact that children are not the priority, I was bullied by SLT and silenced whenever I had something to say. Gaslighting was a big thing. Divide and rule management. 😢😢

As a profession, we need to stop teachers leaving. We need to ask them why they are leaving - it's because of the pressure, workload, toxicity. Not because they don't enjoy teaching.
