Words matter. The mainstreaming of antisemitic rhetoric has dangerous real world consequences. Today's attack on a Michigan synagogue is yet another in a string of examples. Allowing anti-Jewish hatred to go unchecked harms Jews and is a threat to all of society.

“The war in Iran/Gaza has made Jews unsafe.” Where was the war when Jews were gunned down in Pittsburgh? In Poway? In Jersey City? Slashed with a knife in Monsey? When they were taken hostage in Colleyville? There will always be a “reason” for murderous antisemitism. Your job is to understand that the “reason,” whether it be the spread of Covid, opening borders, greedy inflation of rent, or the genocide libel, is in and of itself an antisemitic lie that was formed with the explicit intent to justify violence.

The surge of antisemitism taking hold across our country is dangerous and deadly and must be defeated. The latest example is unfolding in Michigan, where reports indicate an active shooter situation involving a vehicle driven into a synagogue and gunfire at the scene.

Our synagogues are again being targeted, and none of us are surprised. You have freedom of speech, but we don't have freedom from the violence your words incite.

The whole point about "Israel having a right to exist" being a discussion point is that unlike Israel other countries don't face continual multifaceted efforts to literally obliterate the country. No one challenges the existence of Portugal.

The fact Israel got booed at the Olympic opening ceremony while Iran got hardly any reaction is quite telling… Either people are uninformed, selectively outraged, or just prejudiced.

Aggressive agitators were protesting Park East Side synagogue, chanting the word “Intifada.” The Second Intifada refers to a campaign of terror that left more than a thousand Israeli civilians and children dead. The deliberate invocation of “Intifada”—especially in a post–October 7 world—is an unmistakable incitement to violence against Jews. Critiquing the policies of a government is one thing. Targeting a Jewish institution simply for being Jewish is something else entirely. The targeting of a synagogue is not criticism; it’s extremism. It’s not demonstration; it’s discrimination.

If you have a problem with the Israeli government you can go protest outside the Israeli consulate. If you lead a mob to an American synagogue you just hate Jews.
