It’s official. We won! It is the honor of a lifetime to be able to serve our community in Washington DC. The counting took longer than expected, but today the @BOENYC certified our victory & I want to say thank you..

After senselessly keeping DHS closed for 75 days for no reason at all, House Republicans have finally relented. The House just passed legislation reopening DHS without funding ICE or CBP. A hard-fought win by House Democrats under the leadership of Hakeem Jeffries.

The right wing of the Supreme Court has been on an ideological crusade to dismantle the greatest legislative landmark in American history: the Voting Rights Act. By effectively gutting Section 2, the Court has handed state legislatures a blank check to erase historically protected majority-minority congressional seats with the stroke of a pen. The Court’s insidious assault on Section 2 is likely to trigger the worst collapse of minority representation since the failure of Reconstruction—not by accident but by design.

No security screening was required to enter an event featuring the President of the United States, the Speaker of the House, Cabinet Secretaries, and Members of Congress? This failure of even the most basic security protocols—as inexplicable as it is inexcusable—demands an immediate investigation.

I was among the first Members of Congress to sound the alarm about an anonymous insider trader who pocketed more than $400,000 by betting on the capture of Nicolás Maduro through a prediction market. The DOJ has since identified the trader as Gannon Ken Van Dyke: a U.S. Army soldier now facing federal prosecution for exploiting classified information for personal gain.

I am proud to have secured $350,000 for violence interrupters in the South Bronx. Based in Lincoln Hospital, violence interrupters from Guns Down Life Up reach out to at-risk youth in the hopes of steering them away from gangs and guns. According to a 2025 study in NYC, neighborhoods with violence interrupters saw a 21% greater reduction in shootings than comparable neighborhoods without them.

I am proud to have secured $700,000 in federal funding to modernize the library at Hostos Community College, which serves more than 6,000 students. This will be the first renovation of the library since it was built in 1990—36 years ago. Most Hostos students are the first in their families to attend college. Most come from households earning less than $30,000 a year. And most live right here in the Bronx. An investment in Hostos is an investment in the working families of the Bronx.

I am proud to partner with the @MTA and @NYC_DOT in announcing $15 million for the replacement of Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs), one of the leading sources of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in the South Bronx. There are 1000 TRUs polluting the South Bronx. Replacing up to 1000 TRUs is the equivalent of removing up to 330,000 daily truck trips from the Cross Bronx Expressway.

I remember Yume Kitasei from my seven years in the NYC Council. She is as earnest, devoted, and professional a public servant as any I have met—the exact opposite of the caricature you describe. There’s no need to impugn the character of someone you’ve never met or hardly know.

🚨 Meet @NYCMayor’s latest lunatic! DCAS Commissioner Yume Kitasei. In 2015 she was caught falsely attesting signatures for pal Gigi Li’s petition — underage kids, fake witnessing, the works. Li had to drop out. And she has a side-hustle: as an intergalactic-woke novelist (think, anti-colonial space heists with pronouned aliens saving the galaxy from evil humans). She is running NYC’s entire bureaucracy. Mamdani’s vetting = clown show. Receipts below. #MamdaniFail #NYCChaos

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Eliot Engel, whose career of public service was as legendary as it was longstanding. He was not merely a Member of Congress; he was a hero to many. The lives of hundreds of thousands were saved by his unwavering advocacy. He played a pivotal role in protecting Kosovo Albanians from ethnic cleansing and genocide at the hands of the murderous regime of Slobodan Milošević. For decades, he was an institution in the Bronx, a steadfast champion of the U.S.–Israel relationship, and a ferocious fighter the independence of the world’s youngest democracy: Kosovo. The legacy he leaves behind will endure for generations to come.

Eliot Engel was a giant of New York politics and one of the greatest champions the Bronx has ever had in Congress. He served for more than three decades with unyielding dedication, fighting for his constituents and standing up for democracy around the world. He was a trailblazer for the Bronx in Washington, and a fierce advocate for Kosovo and the Albanian community at a time when few others were paying attention. My deepest condolences go to his family and all who loved him.

A newly created anonymous account on Polymarket placed a $32,000 bet just 12 minutes before Donald Trump’s ceasefire announcement. When an anonymous trader makes a perfectly timed trade minutes before a market-moving presidential statement, it bears the hallmarks of insider trading.

What kind of trader places a massive bet at 6:49 AM—just 15 minutes before a market-moving presidential announcement on the war in Iran—with billions of dollars at stake and no hedge, only to pocket hundreds of millions within minutes? The answer is obvious: an insider trader. I am calling on the SEC and CFTC to investigate what may be one of the largest insider trading cases in history.

I am fighting to pass legislation that would ban federal insider trading on prediction markets.

White House aides got an email last month telling them not to place bets on prediction markets, multiple sources told @CBSNews. Press reports had raised concerns about govt officials using nonpublic info to place wagers on Kalshi and Polymarket, said the email, from White House Management Office. The warning reminded staff that's a criminal offense, and is also prohibited by govt ethics regulations. "All White House employees are reminded that the misuse of nonpublic information by government employees for financial benefit is a very serious offense and will not be tolerated."

The Islamic Republic of Iran, more hardline than ever before, emerges from the war with an unprecedented chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz and a new toll booth that could generate as much as $90 billion a year. Global energy markets have been destabilized, and years of critical US munitions have been depleted in a matter of weeks—all to the benefit of foreign adversaries like China and Russia. An abject disaster of Donald Trump’s making.
