If you’re not a Trotskyist in your 20s you don’t have a heart. If you’re not a neo-Kautskyist in your 30s you don’t have a brain.

@left_voice Hi @left_voice, you’ll be happy to know I’ve been in contact with DSA’s regional manager. He finds this comment by our member to be reprehensible. Disciplinary action will be taken at once to rectify the situation. In the meantime, take care of yourself… and each other.

@richard_normal Black Sabbath is the greatest band of every country. They’re British? Doesn’t matter. They’re the best. Plus, the Mob Rules lineup was killer and half American!

@j_mal1 No, that's not what SEP are doing check my last comment. You're not the left and you don't care about the working class otherwise you wouldn't support genocide Joe's party and you wouldn't support Sanders who supports him. Muted

If Leon Trotsky were brought back from the dead, he'd look at the various organizations calling themselves "Trotskyists," and he may ask himself... MY GOD, WHAT HAVE I DONE!?

@j_mal1 Why don't you ask Bernie, AOC, mamdani why they haven't called for all the Epstein files to be released to a prosecutor to put all those mentioned on trial??? Oh that's right Bernie Sanders is trying to keep the sleeping giant sleeping, the working class.

@halaljew @mindyisser There are no shortage of rich people in Central Bucks or Lower Merion sending their kids to fancy private schools. Wonder why that doesn’t seem to be a problem for those districts. This is just a consumerist view of how to improve education and fight inequality.

@j_mal1 @mindyisser When fewer students are enrolled in a public school, that school gets less funding. The more students they get, the more funding they get. You can talk about long term funding reforms all you want, but right now, in the system we have, fewer students = lower funding!

not trying to embarrass this person but this seems to be a really common misconception about how school funding works. it’s actually the opposite. if you want public schools to be good and well funded you should send your kids there :)
Meg@MoxeeMeg

@mindyisser 👍 which is wonderful. Grew up when Philly’s huge Catholic school system was technically free- ( had to do weekly donation to your parish) and then in HS more minimal $. It is out of reach now for many. Still, every kid in Catholic school system =more $$/ kid in public school.

@mindyisser It’s a tiny factor compared to taxes. Marginal even. Idk how denouncing “behavior” and “choices” really matters big picture. It comes down to collective funding problems, not individual choices.

@j_mal1 okay but it is still a factor! again, do whatever you want, but it really personally grinds my gears when people are “public school activists” except for their own children. i personally don’t respect that choice or behavior!

@mindyisser The much larger driver of inequality in education in PA is the funding being tied to property taxes. Individual families’ choices to send their kids to private or charter schools is a much smaller factor.

@j_mal1 yes that’s true, but also, in philadelphia, fewer students enrolled affects funding! if you don’t care about that that’s cool and fine, but that’s literally how it works here.

@j_mal1 Real mature explain to me how Bernie Sanders is a "classical marxist" and Marx himself was an internationalist so maybe you can explain why Sanders was trying to convince workers to blame Chinese and Mexican workers? Any answers wsws.org/en/articles/20…

@mindyisser Not sure anybody is saying that... Schools used to be better funded before rich people started moving to the suburbs. That's what dries up the tax base.

@j_mal1 do what you want, no one is stopping you! but people shouldn’t act like it’s actually good for other kids for their kids to not go. because the opposite is true.

@j_mal1 No he wouldn't he'd realize they're not Trotskyist but petty bourgeois pseudo left tendencies, he'd write about them to clarify to the working class that there's nothing Marxist about them like he did with Max Shachtman's petty bourgeois split with the 4th international.

A DSA member made unacceptable comments in reference to the killing of Leon Trotsky by Stalin, which are also an attack against Sawant. We stand in solidarity with Sawant, and join her call to have DSA leadership disavow the comment.
Kshama Sawant@cmkshama

I urge Seattle DSA members to attend the Saturday convention and vote in support of our campaign for Congress. Our campaign is fighting to end all U.S. military aid to Israel, to shut down ICE, and to win free healthcare for all funded by taxing the rich. This is a historic opportunity to elect the first-ever revolutionary socialist to the U.S. Congress, and to build on the record of unparalleled victories we have won through class struggle in Seattle, like the nation's highest minimum wage, the Amazon Tax, and landmark renters' rights. Unfortunately, this horrific post I'm quoting could not go without a response. This DSA member is referring to the murder of Leon Trotsky by one of Stalin's agents. Trotsky and Lenin were two of the indispensable leaders of the 1917 Russian Revolution, the most progressive event in modern human history. It's a sad commentary on the current state of the left that 45 people have clicked like on the post by this DSA member. I urge DSA leadership to disavow it. Regarding this person's accusation, it is my responsibility as a socialist to raise criticisms of self-identified socialists like AOC and Mamdani when they betray working people. I don't apologize for that. Nor do I apologize for pointing out that the Democratic Party is a dead end for our movements. @SeattleDSA @DemSocialists
